why no black roof on space blue or royal gray?

anybody know why there is no black roof available on space blue or royal gray? i like both colors but would like them with a black roof. i am almost thinking of buying one of them and respraying the roof black after i get the car. it seems weird to me that MINI would not offer these new colors with a black roof. anybody have any idea why not? im leaning toward royal gray black roof.

My first and only guess would be the debut of the silver roof and to most the silver roof is more aesthetically pleasing with those two body colors. (Note: I said MOST, so we need not debate this.) However at the rate which they are discontinuing colors, who the hell knows how long the silver roof will last as well!

^^ Thats my theory too. Black roof isnt available with Purple Haze body color (although it used to be) either. Space Blue, Royal Gray and Purple Haze are all dark colors and won't provide much contrast with a black roof. I think MINI is telling us that they want Silver Roof cars on the road.

I agree with the guess....while the SB doesn't bother me either way, i think the black option would have been very nice on the RG. It doesn't *need* it, it just would have been nice.

If i had ordered before seeing RG in person, I doubt that I would have picked RG because i could not get a black roof.

I would guess that this is simply the beginning of ramping down production before they switch to the 2007 models. As they approach the switch date, the possible variations will diminish. Expect that the final few thousand will only be available in a couple of colors and will all be configured the same--they do this to simplify getting the right number of parts from their suppliers. It's likely that the last few thousand 2006 MINIs will be a "special edition" that is completely pre-specified and buyers can't make choices as to what they want or don't want. Usually manufacturers will make these highly-optioned cars that sell at a relatively low price so they can keep the pipeline to dealers moving but the dealers can get the last ones off the lot before the new models show up.
