You know the rear inserts on the mini cooper S.... the black honeycomb on the back.... Ya well i was thinking it would pretty sweet to take out that insert and replace it with the back insert from the Lorinzer package on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.......... that would look really awesome. anyone know of any **** that would do that or any replacements that look like that?
That would be so awesome looking

You could always just remove the black plastic pieces, then sand the edges and paint for a nice finished look. Then epoxy mesh grille from behind. I've done this before on a 2000 Civic SI and it turned out pretty good. Did the front fake brake ducts.

Well I haven't pulled the rear apron off the car before, so I don't know how those plastic pieces are set it. They could be glued in place or just stuck in with tabs. If glued, you could try a heat gun and some applied pressure to remove them. May have to resort to cutting with a Dremel. That is what I had to do for the SI. Then use 2000+ grit sandpaper on the cut edge to smooth it out. I then mixed up a batch of touchup paint and lanka, and applied to the sanded edges. Next I epoxied the mesh to the backside of the front bumper.

If you are looking for the grille vs mesh look, all you need to do is get some gutter guard or similar material from your local home improvement store. This, too, can be epoxied to the back, creating the exact look you are shooting for.

I have a mcnichols catalog here and they have any style of perf metal product you could ever want. You could order the mesh, make a template and cut it yourself.

EDIT: http://www.mcnichols.com
