Anyone who know how to paint...

I havent painted with an air gun in over two years, but before i was pretty good with it. Today i went to go paint some plasitc pieces from my car and the paint wrinkled up upn drying. I dont remember whatthe cause of this is. Did i put too much paint? Did it mix it wrong? Thanks for all you help ahead of time

did that happen after clear coating it?

you need to let the basecoat dry completely other wise the contraction
ratio is different between basecoat and clear usually.

please show us what you are painting when you're done.

LOL, its a base coat, but come to think of it, that might be the problem. I painted it upon spray paint base.

Ill show all of you when i am done. Thanks

Temp has a lot to do with it as well. I've gotten "lizard skin" before when painting at too low a temp.

yah that's true. painting should be done at least 60F preferrably 70F.

also humidity should be less than 70%RH...otherwise clear doesn't
turn out too clear. more like a clouding effect. worst thing to do is
to paint in your garage on a rainy damp cool day...unless you have a
dehumidifier or a space heater to control the temp and humidity.
(now im going into tangents...)

SORRY, left the 't of of can't.

If you spray lacquer paint over enamel paint (or possibly the other way around) it will blister up EVERY (oops hit the wrong key) time.

sounds to me like the surface wasnt prepped good enough.

what did you use to clean it off with?

remember, even if the plastc pieces are brand new, there are still mold release chemicals that may need to be removed.

Earl is correct; if you apply lacquer over enamel it will either blister or wrinkle.
