Orange display after market cd radio?

Sorry to ask this, but I just could not find the answer I wanted. Which after market cd radio will display in a very similar orange red color as the stock display and also allow for direct control and display of the IPOD? My understanding is that the stock unit will only pick up IPOD songs that are in specific MINI song lists. And then only get them by numbers.
Any words of wisdom?
Thanks
H

I am not too sure any of them will.

With the stock head unit you get TR# from the BMW ipod link, and with the normal aux input AUX is all you see, but the song is still displayed on the ipod.

As far as aftermarket stereos I am not too sure who may make one that will do it.

Don't know if they make an iPod-compatible model or not, but try Blaupunkt. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) they are the manufacturers of the OEM headunits for BMW & MINI, so they are more likely to make an orange display model.

I was rather certain that Alpine makes the OEM head unit.

My alpine 9855 has 512 selectable colors and shows up all orange, very closely matching and controls my pod

OK maybe I was wrong... but didn't Blaupunkt make them for BMWs in the past?

There is a thread on MINI2 about this. Even shows the head units lit up in the dark.

Wow, so there is indeed no thread about this on here. I searched and searched and even felt a bit stupid. I am amazed though that not more folks want something like that.
I'll check mini2.com

Thanks

I saw a very neat Alpine unit at Tweaters and at Bestbuy which has a wicked display and allows color adjustments and is iPOD ready, well after $449 for the HU and $99 for the iPOD adapter. Yikes.

I've thought about it, but custome ICE is pretty low on my priority list. OEM is fine for news radio and Books on CD.

Make sure you post pics of whatever you decide!
