Different launch technique for 04's and 05's
I have had AWD cars for a while so I got used to slipping the clutch when launching. That is how I launch my MCS. I had an 03 and could slip the clutch from about 4500RPM's with out much spin. In my 05, 3000RPMS is about the most I can do with out burning out. I think this is due to the re-gearing of the Tranny. Any one else slip the clutch to launch? What RPM's and year are you doing it from?

i shall pay more attention when i drive my buddies '05 again

I'd only been able to make a few passes last fall but had been launching at lower and lower RPMs starting at 3K rpms, I was still getting too much spin at 2400rpms and could never seem to slip the clutch just right. I hope with practice, and lighter wheels/stickier tires I can get my 60ft. times down. My current best time was by forgetting to turn off the traction control, immediately flooring it after launcing at 2600 rpms (when I realized what I'd done, and turning off the traction control near the top of first gear. Basically I'm just a poor driver.
