went to the track last night...
and well, i'm not too happy with myself. first let me give you some details. this was only my second time ever running at a track. the first time was with my modified corrado at the end of last season. then last night with the mcs. well, the mods on the mini are pormini pulley, and promini intake. other than that stock. o and i have removed my rear seats. i know everything comes down to the driver, and that is the problem. everything on the track for me is great except my launches. if anyone can give any tips and or tricks for launching the mini correctly, please do. i open ears for anything. well, anyways, my best time of the night was a 15.3. the first few runs were in the 16's and it took me all night to break into the 15's. but oce i did i started getting lower times till my last two runs. which went back up to high 15's. again, it was all in my launches and i know this. so any help there would be great.
but to those mini/vw guys out there. i went wiht my brother who owns a 93 corrado, and is modified. well i ran him like 5 times last night. he took me in the first run, as i bogged the launch. but after that, he would get me off the line, and then a littel less than half way down, i would fly by him. actually i waves once to him as i passed. which is weird as he should have pulled a lot harder on me than that.
my launch problems, for thsoe that want to help me. i would either bog it off the line, or jsut spin the tires. i did all my runs with traction control off. except for 2 runs, on accident and those were my best times. no traction control gave me high times, and with it on i got 15.3 and 15.4. so any help would be great.
thanx and sorry for making this long.

I'm not drag star, but it seems like you're dealing with a traction issue (I think you already know that). The fact that you're getting faster times with the traction control on tells me that your tires can't hold on to ther power you're generating.
Your best solution is to add a Limited Slip Differential. The LSD will allow you to put your added power to both wheels instead of "peg-legging" at the line.
The easyest solution is just to keep experimenting with your launch rpms. We found that our MCS (no pully) would launch OK at about 3000-3500. Much higher and wheelspin, much lower and bog city. With you added power I'd think about 3,500 and good modulation of the gas peddal and clutch would help your launches. Some wider and stickier tires could also help you in the traction department.
Bottom line however, is that with your power and no LSD traction off of the line will be difficult.
