Dinan Exhaust for cooper S

Hello everyone!

I am new to the group. I have a 2005 cooper S with the aero package, performance pulley, cowl induction intake and stage 3 software. I am considering the Dinan performance exhaust system to allow the engine more breathing room. Do any of you have this exhaust and how well does it work and sound? I have an hour drive to and from work every day and LOVE my mini!

Dinan Exhaust

I have an 03 cooper S with Dinan stage 3 software. cowl induction and exhaust....the exhaust is great sounding. Not too loud but much more better than stock. Throaty with a gurgle/popping when you let off the throttle....Having a big problem with Dinan making compatible software for the update revision Mini installed last spring..they've been working on it since then...Now they tell me it may be a couple of more months. It seems it affects about 2 or 3 dozen mini owners. So since the update I'm back to oem specs fot the CPU...Probably 12 HP less than the stage 3....I'm bummed out.

Dinan Exhaust

I have the Dinan exhaust, along with intake and ecu, and find it a great combination; robust when on the throttle and similar to stock while cruising. The only issue I have is that the exhaust seems loose. Having dealer check the mount but I've heard it is a common concern; have not heard of any coming off.

the website says 649.00 for the system. At that price you have many choices suggest you check out the exhaust system thread.

Can anyone explain why you need stage 3 software for the intake and or the exhaust?

Reason for stage 3 software

The way I understand it from Dinan, the cowl induction and pulley upgrade pull more air into the engine creating more exhaust. The stage 3 software changes the timing, combustion, etc to get maximum effect for performance. I have found that after these mods, my "S" was actually scary in the power band in all six gears, i.e. 0-80 mph on expressway entrance ramp and still just loafing along! Next I want to do a larger intercooler and an after market throttle body (not Dinan) that's twice the size of the stock one.

Why the TB? Most everything on here says its pointless without a new head. Its just a big pipe feeding a little pipe ... does nothing.

That would, of course, include the new head. You are right, one is useless without the other!
