Can't find chrome side vents grilles!

I'm looking for chromed side vent grilles (no flame pattern, no shark pattern, no crosscatch pattern, no S), and I can't find them except for at Moss, who charges $107 for the pair (while charging $30 for the ones with the S and $50 for the shark pattern ):

I've combed all the NAM vendors and all I can find are all the other patterns (all at $50). Anyone know of another source? Any guesses as to why Moss charges more than twice the price of any other similar product on the market, including in their own catalog?

Wtf???

$107???

I bet it's cheaper if you sent it out and have it chromed. Did a little google-ing and found one service: http://www.classiccomponents.com/plastic.htm

Thanks, that's a really good idea! Hmm... these pieces have to bend a bit to pop into place. I wonder if the coating would hold up to that?

I guess the main downside would be not having the parts on the car for however many days, and having holes instead.

big money but its a NiCE piece, finish...

i would say it's a highly desirable bit/part !!

how much does it have to bend!?!?!

I've seen those on Ebay many times... I tried watching the auctions to get some but they always go reeeeeally high. Way over $100 last time I tried.

I have supplies and am doing mine myself.

Oh... and you wanted chrome?

Edit: oh, woops - I see you're talking about the clear lenses (which I also have). I'm looking for the chrome grilles. Thanks anyway!

Sweet! Silly me, I was searching for chrome, not silver. Oh, and this cracks me up:
"These 2 units have been extensively modified to suit your street modified BMW Mini"

If you've got the supplies to chrome these yourself, and if they really go for that high on eBay, why not start cranking these out and selling them there?

Anyhow thanks for the tip!
Chris

I did once see a Cooper side grill that was black except for two chrome strips along the slats of the marker. It looked very classy, subtle and the inner part of the grill stayed black, which I like (like the MCS grill). I think one of the German tuners had them...not sure which one. I also saw a chrome Cooper side grill in GoMINI...one of the early issues. It jumped out at me because the inner grill was black and the outer chrome. I've never seen that anywhere else. Not much help, just more dots to connect.
