Help In Removing Handbrake

Hi,

Can anyone help by giving a few tips on how to remove the handbrake ( I am adding some chrome bits).

From what I have read the steps are as follows.

1) Remove the front cap ( done that)

2) Squeeze the hand brake frame and pull up ( This I am struggling with). Does it need a lot of force ? Can not feel and give in the frame when I press the frame in....

3) Leaver open the two black clips on the front of the handbrake and then lift off handbake.

Am i missing a step ?

All advise happly received.

I have seen this link but am still struggling.

Hi! Yes, it's not that bad but it does require technique.

Once you remove the end cap, remove the boot cover and its frame. Squeeze in the left and right side of the frame to pop out the two side snaps of the boot frame. Hook your finger under the rear portion (through the shift boot) and give it a sharp tug upward to unclasp the rear section. Now start prying it out of its snaps all around the boot frame.

Once you get the boot frame unsnapped, you can pry open the two tangs that were beneath the front cap. You'll need to pry them back pretty far.

Now you can slide the handle, boot, and boot frame off.

Secure the boot to the new handle with a new zip tie and reverse procedure for installation.
