Factory SIRIUS Installation Instructions

Hello group. Please help. Just picked up the Sirius radio tuner and antenna from my BMW dealer. I am going to install it myself, and the install instructions for the antenna are there, but no drawings or instructions for the tuner. Instructios show a 1.5 hr. install time and dealer wants 500 bucks to ido the job. Anyone have access to the maint. manuals, or experience doing this install? Any help is appreciated.

The tuner just plugs into the connector for the CD changer in the passenger side rear door int eh boot area.

You probably want to take the seats and side panel off for best access, especially if you have H/K. I think the factory kit comes with a bracket as well.

Hi! As far as the installation for your factory Sirius radio, go to the search area at the upper right hand of the home page and enter MIKE PREDINA make sure to put the space in and click on search. This will take you to a thread for self installing the factory Sirius radio. Somewhere in that thread will be about a page worth of how I installed the Siruis in my 2005 MINI. I didn't have CD changer in trunk or HK, but I can tell you that I-a guy who's kind of aware-but not really talented-did it in an hour and a half-including coffee breaks. On the box the tuner came in there should have been a yellow label that tells the parts guy-in eight languages-that he should run you a copy of the installation instructions, so if you didn't get yours-call him and have him fax it to you. That's what I had to do. If you live anywhere near Cleveland Ohio maybe I can come over and assist. I helped Martin Reuben put one in his (with HK) and he had no problems. The guy talking about taking the seats out, etc. may be right (or he may be wrong) if it's an older MINI, but mine was a 2005 and had two removable panels in the boot (trunque to Yankees), one on each side. They pop out and the tuner installs relatively easily. I can be also reached on cell 216-469-0915, 'tween 8 AM and 9 PM. Good luck! Mike Predina

Man, you guys are fast. Thanks for the quick response. I have the H/k system so the amp is in the r/h boot bay. Antenna instructions have the wires running to the L/H bay. Will take a look. Mike, thanks for the offer of help, but I'm in Minnesota. Pete

Oh yeah, I forgot about the extra harness they give you with H/K to put the sat box in the left side. Should be a piece of cake. The hardest part will be running the antenna wire. If you can get it down (and it should not be that difficult) there is definitely no reason to take the seats out.
