Hilton Head Concours Event has been Cancelled

Great News!

I am currently exchanging voicemails with the organizers of the Hilton Head Concour's event. This is an invitation only event and they would definitely like the M2C2 group to participate again this year. You can check out photos from last year's event here.

This event is still in its infancy (4 years young) but doing/growing very well. You can visit the event's website to get a complete set of details on the event. But here are the key details:
  • Saturday, November 5th--Car Jamboree of regional car clubs
  • Sunday, November 6th--Concours d'Elegance with over 130 cars & QUEST FOR SPEED & STYLE
Special feature cars include the Ford Thunderbird (50 years of history), Notable race cars, British and Italian cars, and Packards. Last year we got to peak at the GM prototypes that were developed for the Firebird. That was an absolutely incredible experience.

We have to get some headcounts put together real quick. If you are interested in attending, please drop me an email in the next couple days or post a follow-up message. After we get a feel for the interest, we can look at the available hotels in the area.

Hi Keith. This is great news. I'm up for it so put me down as in! I hope there's enough interest so we can go again. We had a great time last year. C'mon people, sign up for this. You won't regret it.

We are confirmed to attend!

Don't hesitate to sign up. This was a fun event for all.

As we get a list I will call about hotels and we can plan a route. If I remember Eric did a great job of getting the groups to meet up on the drive down.

Bump--Unfortunately, if we don't get enough interest we will have to cancel and chances are we won't be invited again.

It's a great show and a beautiful area.

Cheers,
Debi

I hate to blow my own horn, and take away from Eric (He's such a nice guy) but it was me who organized the timing of the meet-ups on the way down to HHI last year...
I'll gladly let Eric do it this year!!
It's an excellent show, and a fun time for everybody..
Under current circumstances, unfortunately, the chances are pretty good that I won't be able to make it this year..

So where do we stand with this???

I guess I'm on the fence with the event this year. I certainly enjoyed last year's, but I'm not seeing the same enthusiasm. Part of the fun last year was Friday night dinner with all the MINI owner's after the carwashapalooza;
having a strong showing of MINI's at the event and just hanging out with MINI friends during the day.

Are we on our own for hotels? a discount?
Do we have anything definite from the event organizers?
Are we getting passes, how many?

Let me start by saying we are definitely behind the eight ball when compared to last year. Last year, we had the notice in the middle of August and had plenty of time to put together a group. Here we are this year and we are just a three weeks away and we still are tentative. Response has been weak to attend the event--the event committee is stuggling to fit us into the field (parking lot, if anything) for Saturday

I just think that it is in the best interest to cancel. Last year was very fun with the car washing, dinners out and attempted bull riding (well almost).

Deb and I enjoyed the event last year. We committed to going month's ago with or without the Mini group. Hell, we were going without the Mini.

As I stated to all ot the leadership of M2C2 over the weekend via email, I have struggled to make contact with various parties and struggled to get us on the list (almost). This year it appears that we were not on the invite list, perhaps next year. Thanks to those that showed an interest.

Keith, I hate to say it, but I agree with your suggestion. It appears it just isn't "happening" for us this year. As you say, maybe we can get an earlier start next year. I would definitely be interested in going back but I don't won't us to be relegated to the parking lot! Not being admitted to the BMW hospitality tent last year was bad enough. Thanks for all of your efforts to try to put this together.

Bummer or is that Bimmer, or Bimmer Bummer as long as we aren't Bitter Beemer's!

Visit here if you dont get the Bitter joke

Anyway I agree with cancelling this year.
As a consolation prize we all get a free week-end at home!

Hey Chris, who get's to stay home? I was just waiting on a decision about this and now have another event (non-MINI) scheduled out of town. Seems there's no rest for the weary!

sory to hear this...

Sorry to hear this... I attended last year with 2 other AtlantaMINI's members & enjoyed the weekend. I regretted not spending very much time at M2C2 events I mostly hung out wth the folks from Atlanta the bulk of the weekend.

I have a second home on the island so I had no excuse to miss it. I really enjoyed the trip but washing my MINI 2 days in a row for showing both on Saturday & sunday before dawn in the dark at 40 degree temperatures was a tad off-putting. I would do it again in the future though.

I was going to post that I was unable to come this time because of a fall event for AtlantaMINI's that same weekend.

I hope this get's revived..it is a nice event.

***My father is a volunteer this year at the Robeling Road vintage racing event & asked a few days ago whether I was attending..

This is another 2 day FANTASTIC show. Even though the club is not participating this year, you may want to consider making the trip.

Cheers,
Debi
