I installed a B&M SS on my 05 MCS last week (man what a pain), but after installing the new shifter and cover, the shifter makes a loud banging noise when moved to the extreme right between 5th and 6th gear.

It sounds like the bottom of the shifter is hitting the left side of the box, and is pretty annoying, but I'm loathe to open up the box again unless I know what to look for.

Anyone else experience this?

 

I had the same problem with the stock shifter on my 05 MCS. I sent it back to mini service. They fixed it by securing the shifter cable as tight as possible.

 

Make sure the cup is snapped on all the way. Pull the shifter boot off and watch as you shift (engine turned off and parking brake on).

 

yup, I did this yesterday and saw 2 clips were not in fully, causing the cup to shift when pushed to the right only... now to get those suckers in

 

I was able to get them to catch with a small screw driver from the cockpit.
