Victory Lane Karting, let's setup a visit, Charlotte

I couldn't make the last visit to VLK, but who wants to setup a date and plans for a trip to Victory Lane Karting in Charlotte for some high speed kart racing? I love that place, and am itching for another reason to go.

I'll see what else is happening around the two states and also check in on how it all works.

I think October is definitely filled up with activities. EuroFest (October 14-16) and the Spooky Tweetsie Train (Oct 22-23). Both will be fun events-- check out those postings. November may be filling up too - have to wait and see the scoop on the Hilton Head Auto Weekend. I am working on the Oakboro Auto Reunion later that month (more details when I get them).

Anyone want to volunteer to look more into this???

Count the GrilleGuy in!

I haven't been in a few years, but they used to offer a special for the ladies on Fri and Sat.

I think a Fri evening event would be different! Get out and about you know.
If we need add'l info (since the club was just there a few months back) I could drop in there at lunch sometime, I work clsoe by.

I, too, missed the last one and wouldn't mind trying it out. Either Sat. or Sun. would work for me.

Yep, Sunday is preferable here too. Saturday is always pre-planned and lots going on, not to mention VLK is busier on Saturday and harder to work us in.

If you stop in at VLK ask for Jody, she's the one I dealt with setting up the last event we had there...

Cudos to Victory Lane

I just wanted to give some praise to the guys at Victory Lane who helped me out with the MINI USA scavenger hunt today... they were awesome...
Joe Clontz and Katie in Corporate Sales were GREAT.
Zack (out on the track) was trying to figure out either how to get MAXX on the track or get the track to MAXX...

Let me know if I can help organize this.. I would like to work through Joe if possible...

I thought you were wearing checkered flag covered MC Hammer pants there for a minute. My eyes were deceiving me.

Nice job! I saw your first submission without the number on the side <G>. You've had some great times on the scavenger hunt! My times are inconsequential, but I did want to complete every challenge. The barber shop pole one was the toughest one for me!
Hope you get a shot at Italy or England!

i work on the weekends and usually out of town. if anyone wants to go to victory lane any other day of the week let me know. send me a message. i tend to go on mondays after my 1:30 meeting with some co-workers. never to busy then. often times we're the only ones there til it gets to be league time around six or so. my co-workers are about 2 seconds faster than me so i need the practice.

I got an email from John at Victory Lane today... he mentioned Jody is definitely who we should coordinate our future visits through.

Planning

I didn't make the event last time. What sort of event did you particpate in?

I went with the SCCA-CCR a few years back and it was more of a just race and race and race. No real tracking of qualifications, races with designated persons, etc.

Any suggestions on what you would like? They do have 2 plans already established, but I think they can accomodate.

Planning

I spkoe with Jody just a moment ago...I mis-spoke, they are under new management and things are more "organized" now.

We need to get a head count and a deposit sto lock a date. Currently they have these available dates that M2C2 does NOT have something else planned:

Oct 30th and Nov 20th and maybe Nov 13th (CCR has an autocross though)

6-8-10 (same as last time) 6 min pract, 8 min qual, 10 min race $55/person
10-10-10 10 min sessions of practice, qual, and race $65/person
Le Mans (race in teams of 2 with live pits) 6 min pract, then each driver would run 2 10 minute race sessions. This option IMO reduces the stand around time (you'llbe pulling for your teammate). Jody even mentioned a race against another club. This may be an option if we don't have enough M2C2 turn out. As a member of the Carolina Miata Club (at least a little while longer), I think those guys would like to participate.

I will have an email from Jody later with exact details, I will edit this posting if anything changes.

I like the 6-8-10 setup actually. I've always done the Superprix which I believe was 8 minutes each session. I like the 6 min of practice better to have more on the final race. I'm pumped! Let's do it!

Grilleguy, thanks for keeping track of the tally. We'll probably need a cushion of a couple extra people since there's always a no-show.

What's the minimum # of drivers to run one of these setups?

GrilleGuy -

Tenatively count me in as well. I haven't been to VLK for several years (prior to the track redesign), but would love to come out an' play.

I would like to have as much practice as possible since I am unfamiliar with the current layout, but I don't want that to screw up the needs of others...

My '06 HB/B JCW MCS won't be here til about December 7th, so I need to drive SOME kind of GO KART in the meantime ...

THANX,
Robert
