Question for Magnaflow owners.

Have any of you thought about drilling a little hole right under the bottom lip of the tip?
It seams the water tends to pool there and stain. Any thoughts on the ramifications of trying this?

ive had several aftermarket exhaust systems, with several different exhaust tips on them. Most has a small hole in the bottom of the tip, right before the rolled backmost edge.

just do it in a spot on the botom side, so IF for some odd reason you dont like it, you can have a tiny plug weld done to fill it back in

you dont weld a hole in anything... you patch it... otherwise the weld turns to crap!

I use to keep my Magnaflow tips polished but it was a PITA. Now they're a nice, uniform, flat black. I think they look pretty cool that way and there's no maintenance.

Interesting idea...now only if I can make my bent tip more round without heating it

While were talking about our Magnaflows....

Anyone ever notice black smoke out of these on a cold start? My Dad thought it was weird. I just

Any tricks to making it fit an 05 with tools I have. Meaning I don't have a torch and just my own two hands and simple tools. I currently have it rigged and it pretty loose and weekly I find new spots it likes to rub and cause body rumble.

Been there done that, waste of time. Carbon black baby, it's hot!

But if you insist, don't be trying to drill any holes in those stainless steel tip's unless you have a carbide drill bit. What I did was use a dremel with two small cut off wheels stacked to make a wider cut. I used the rolled lip as a guide and cut a slot about 1.5" long. The only way to see it is looking straight down. Yeah it works, dribbles water and soot but it won't eliminate the black. I chose battles I can win, this isn't one of them.

Yeah, I thought about doing that and still may, but for now, when I wash the car, I wipe the inside of the tips with the good old orange rubbing compound. Keeps the inside nice and shiney
