195/55 Or 195/60?? ...

Ok its cruntch time I have to get some tires this week.
I think Ive narrowed it down to Kumhos and 195s??

Ive noticed that most people suggest 195/55 15s but when I call the Tire rack and other tire sales ppl they suggest the 195/60 15s.

which one looks and performs better on the Holey wheel?

based on the stock tire size of 175 65 15 a 195 55 15 tire would be 2.1% to fast. or your speedo would read 60 mph but you would be going 58mph.

A 195 60 15 would be 1.1% to slow or you would be showing 60mph but you would be going 60.6 mph.
To keep the speedo acurate I would go with the 195 60 15.
You could also try a 205 55 15 It would be 0.3% to fast or 59.8mph
Cheers

195/55/15 would provide you with some high performance tire choices.
195/60/15 as stated above will give you slightly more accurate speedo readings and tons of choices for all season tires.

Do you ever plan on taking a corner really fast at the limit? get 195/55

Do you have a set of rims/tires for winter (if where you live snow?) If you don't have an extra set of tires or don't want to get a set, get all season 195/60/15

local tire stores are either trying to sell me or only have 195/60.
One even told me the 55 would look silly??

I havent asked about a 175 I assume those are hard to get?
so thats the size the Holey comes with from the factory?
anybody running these?

-Butt monkeys.

After getting input from many here, I found a local shop offering a fab deal on 205/50-15s Azenzis mounted & balanced for the price of shipping 4 like-quality tires from TireRack. They also offer free rotation for the life of the tires.

The tires have been lovely. Wonderful. OK. Freakin' awesome!

The 50's:
Lowered the gearing.
Look absolutely fab.
Lowered the car a hair.
Were $20 cheaper than their 215/55 brothers. Each!

I'll nab another set of Holey's with stock 175s for winter again. Their narrow track & sidewall height were perfect the last several winters in Wisco... as I watched many a wide-tired AWD SUV ditch itself unnecessarily.

Good luck with your decision, doombuggy.

PS. Anyone know if an 06 JCW MCS may utilize Holey's with that new, big Brake Kit?

saddly enough I too found a set of kumho 195/60/15 732's mounted and balanced for $180 semi-locally I considered our sponser but paying more, plus paying someone $100 to mount them didnt appeal.

I figure if I hate um I can find something else later or sell the tires on eBay and get some of my $$ back.

the car rides better and the 15s lightened the steering up.

my one concern is that the break cal is really close to the inside rim about 1/2 an inch.
I guess that will be ok??
