Flywheel change...worth it?

I've seen many quality flywheels available for the MC to improve rev up and engine response, but is it a mod that will be reliable? plus, between price and labor to install, is it anything that is worth the investment? I'm not on the verge of doing it, but I just wanted to get a feel of what some of you hardcore tuners think about it. Thanks!

Less benefit from lightening the MC flywheel (stock about 18#) compared
to lightening the MCS flywheel (stock about 28#). The crank pulley is
also much lighter on the MC compared to the MCS.

Did the UUC ltwt FW & stage 2 clutch when the Quaiffe was installed. Happy with the noticeably faster spin up.

Just be prepared to accept a rattling noise from the flywheel when the clutch is depressed.

when people say "when the clutch is depressed" do they mean when the clutch is engaged?

The other way around...neutral, clutch out, rattles. Clutch in (depressed), no rattle:smile:

Okay, now I'm confused. The other thread referred to above (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=45726) suggests that the light flywheel chatter is with the clutch "out" (presumably meaning the pedal is out, and clutch is engaged, in neutral - e.g. see post #33) and that the sound is "very similar" to the "throw-out bearing" noise.

Which is it? Pedal in (disengaged), or pedal out (engaged)?

Edit: MSFITOY answered that question! (simultaneous with it being asked!)

So who has a video or sound clip of all this 'chatter'?

sorry, I was trying to get it straight for others because comments and terms were'nt matching up. I'll try again.

clutch pedal depressed = clutch disengaged, no chatter at idle.
clutch pedal not depressed = clutch engaged, chatter at idle.
