It's that time of year again to join us in one of the south's largest import car shows. Of course, I'm talking about Eurofest. This event is held at the BMW Zentrum in Greer, SC ( between Spartanburg and Greenville). This years' marque of distinction will be Italian cars. The website with all the details and registration information, can be found here: http://www.euroautofestival.com/ .
In a way, timing couldn't be better. The money collected for this event is donated to the Red Cross disaster relief fund. So sign up now. Enjoy a fun weekend with hundreds of other enthusiasts, and support the relief efforts down south.
The Wingate Hotel will again be M2C2's official hotel. There will be a special discounted rate for club members. We will hopefully have that set up early next week. Stay tuned here for details.

George just told me yesterday he confirmed our block of rooms at the Wingate Inn. You can make reservations using the code "mnni". The rates are $59 a night. The address for the hotel is:
33 Beacon Drive
I-85 at Exit 54
Greenville, SC, 29615
864-281-1281
The Zentrum is located at exit 60, so we're only about 5 miles down the road.

I've never been to Eurofest before so I need some information. Are we showing cars as a club or are some individuals doing this on their own? Also, if I wanted to just come down for events on Friday and Saturday, would I have to pay the $30 registration fee if I wasn't showing my car? Would someone please explain how this all works?
Thanks!
Thanks!
While we endeavor to keep all the M2C2 entries together, varying arrival times sometimes preclude that. The cars are added to the line in order of their arrival. All the MINIs/Minis will be in the same area, though, and we will have our banner in view somewhere.
If you want to participate in any of the sponsored activities (tour, rally, dinners, or show) the $30 has to be paid along with any event fees there might be. If you just want to come down to look around the show and hang out with us, there's no charge.
On Saturday, cars start coming in between 7:30 and 8. The show starts at 9am with the judging concluding at 1pm. Awards will be announced at 3pm. You got to be there no later than noon in order to be judged. Last year they did awards for both MCs and MCSs (if they have 7+ cars in a category they award the top 3 places).
If you're going to be around all day, you might as well pay the money and try to take home an award for your trouble.
Ed and I did it last year and I believe George did it the year before.
The rally on Sunday is fun, but I'll warn you, a navigator is really helpful for this. It's basically a drive around the area, trying to spot the answers to a list of questions along the route. Two years ago, Crystal and I took 2nd place in this and were rewarded by having our entry fees paid for the next years Fest. This rally is over around noon so there's still plenty of time to get back home at a reasonable hour.

I'm going and may enter if the MINI is in on time, but it will be cutting it close. My 03 Mini won 2nd place in 03. Chris B. took home 1st and George 3rd that year.

It's a wonderful show and well worth attending.
Cheers,

In addition to what Moorlockx has said, all proceeds go to the Red Cross...
I believe that there's an admission fee and you park in the parking lot if you just want to attend..
Last year they announced that the "car show" in the parking lot was almost as good as the one on the grass!!

All total, there were 20 to 25 MINIs and 6 or 7 Minis last year, but, I believe only 5 or 6 belonged to club members. Unfortunately, last year the event was overshadowed by the Hilton Head Concourse that was held right after it.Here's a link to pics of some of the more interesting entries I took last year: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/moorlockx/album?.dir=9363
I didn't realize it until it was over that I forgot to shoot any of the MINI line!

Bump!
My fiance and I are trying to decide between going to Petit LeMans next weekend or to EuroFest
to not only hang with the MINI group but also to see the Italian stallions
. Can only do one or the other.
Here are some pics from the 2002 event I found earlier. I had a Cooper then but have since moved on to the JCW.

Thanks for the pix Mike. Do you mind if we use them on our previous events page on the website?
That's a tough choice, but Eurofest has always been such a fun day I'd lean towards going there!

Great, Eric!! Glad you decided to join us! Crystal and I are scheduled to take the plant tour at 2:15. We'll be around the hotel shortly after we get done there.
There's a few restaurants right in the hotel area. How about we get everyone together for dinner around 6 or so?

I have no way to track it this time, and unfortunately, when it comes in, the only day I can pick it up is Saturday. So if it's not the 15th, it will definately be the week after.
And no Ed, it's not teal
Cheers All!
