factory black spots on wheels removed

my mcs s light wheels came with a mysterious black speckling all over the inside of the rims. it was there right from the start and appeared to be baked on.

at first i thought that brake dust had somehow been "waxed" over, but looking more closely at that junk made me think it might be excess wheel weight adhesive.

i never could get that crap off until today: it appeared to be somewhat soluble in mineral spirits, so i tried a toothbrush in mineral spirts to remove it, but the fastest way was using a claybar with mineral spirits as the lubricant. since the bar will dissolve in the liquid, i had to just use a little fluid and then when the bar finally turned to paste, work/wipe the paste off with toilet tissue wet with mineral spirits.

Nothing good I'm sure But is there clearcoat on some wheels, none on mine.

Go to your dealer and get some BMW wheel cleaner. The stuff works great, just make sure you rince it well.

Simple Green works too.

Now that I have been waxing my wheels, I don't need to use anything but shampoo and water, and a wipe with a terry towel.

This was done with simple green.
