Which adj. end links to get after fitting PSS9s...
Hi all,
Trying to get ready for post fitting of the PSS9,like to know at this moment which are the brands in the market that have front and rear end links that are adjustable. Since there are some problems with alta 's front links getting bent on lowered mini with PSS9 , I do not want to get the rear alta's only.
Which other brands have all front and rear that I could purchase soon?
Appreciate all responses...
Cheers

Thanks for your advise, I have emailed alta enquiring whether they have a fix for the bend front links, awaiting their reply.
Will keep this thread updated once I hear from alta... hope they already have, love their products...

All,
Have been using Alta sway bar links for 2 years now. No, repeat "no", rattling. I agree with Onasled, rattling links mean "bad" links. In the old days, before teflon coated link ***** were commonly available, the heim links did rattle and rattled loudly. My coated Altas sound fine and feel very tight with 15,000 miles on them.
The broken / bent link "problem" with Alta links is a combination of installation and Alta component problems both issues with a solution. The installation issue comes from people unknowingly installing the links without lengthing the links, compared to the stock link length, the appropriate amount when installed on lowered cars, what ever the spring / strut arrangement. The details are covered in the install instructions that come from Alta. Too short of a link increases joint angularity (potentially "a bad") and alters the lever arm geometry of the sway bar (not "a good").
The component problem developed, when for a time, Alta released front suspension end link sets with heim joints that had a somewhat smaller range of motion or angularity than the earliest link sets and their current link sets. The restricted angularity heim joints in the front would bind with a combination of turning and suspension droop and, bingo, bend or break. Jeff at Alta has been very good at making that problem "good" for people.
I would buy Alta's end links again in a minute.
There are potential interference problems that are not commonly talked about in the front with any lowered chassis and for those who crank in extra negative camber. I would inspect my front strut link mounting tab for clearance relative to the wheel well sheet metal. I'd also inspect the clearance between the sway bar link and the wheel brake line mounting tabs that are mounted on the chassis rearward of the strut and face the strut. I got a kick out of Onasled or Greatbear who recently posted that they had to "bash" their wheel wells so their lowering springs would stop groaning when the springs would contact the wheel well sheet metal. Coil overs don't typically have the "groan" problem because they are smaller in diameter than the typical H&R and H sport lowering spring.
I ran into all three interference problems. The solution for me was to "bash" the drain tubes on the inner fender wells where the tubes would contact the spring, and use my dremmel to cut down the strut tab for the sway bar link and round off the brake line mounting bracket for additional clearance in these areas.
I hope that this information helps.

Alta2 (Jeff) and I exchanged a few emails the past week or two on this very subject... They have new rod ends arriving shortly that will allow for more freedom of movement. He said that he would ping me once they are in... I will then place an order, for all 4

p&s,
Maybe my hearing is bad, but I haven't noticed any significant noise, as I said. You may be more sensitive to some noise that I am not.
A possible alternative explaination for the noise your are hearing is that something else is rattling. People have posted that they have gotten rattling sounds from loose sway bar link mounting studs. It seems that they did not fully tighten the heim joint studs where they connect to the strut mounting tab or where they connect to the sway bar mounting holes. Also, people have complained of noises from not correctly tightening the nut at the top of the strut. Check out all those bolts for looseness.
Let us know what you find.

Thanks for asking. We have had one set that was damaged by a
customer. There has only been that one incident. However, we did
review the information surrounding the endlinks and changed the rod
end to allow additional movement. All MINI's regardless of height
will not experience a problem.
