OK, I am not looking to incite a riot or get banned here, but has anybody seen the NAM Member Formerly Known as El Diablito’s MINI lately? It’s been a while since I’ve seen it and he has totally transformed it. Anyway, I took these shots this morning in Newport Beach.
Very cool looking MINI. I saw that car at the MMW. Took a few pictures, but not as many as these. It was kind of funny, I was looking under the hood thinking, hmm some parts are not in the right place and then saw the turbo. . Had a little chat with El Diablito. Interesting guy.

Pretty wild! Looks to me as if its supercharged and turbocharged. Did you see this at Newport Coast? El Diablito is working with me on the merits of an Apexi fuel managment controller. He told me that he and Huie are building a MINI dragster as a factory sponsored effort. It is scheduled to debut in Phoenix at Hot Import Nights in October...
Anyone have any details/ other pics of the bonnet scoop on El's ride?, I know he was posting a while back about a custom scoop.
Great pics, thanks for posting
It's made by a french aftermarket company who specializes on mostly Peugot body kits. I believe he ordered it directly from france and waited for a while for it to arrive. When he was doing so there was word of an american distributor forming, but i have no idea what happened on that front. The company makes a full kit, but you can get the scoop separately. The name is Esquiss.
I wish he was still around, he put a different light on the subject at matter.
And, he knows what real power is.
Where's the numbers.
FWIW, Jan's [El Diabolito's] car is not making the ridiculous amounts of power he'd like you to think; definately not reliably. His highest whp was 280. High? Yes. Ridiculous? Certainly not. That may even have been spraying. He then blew pistons using an MTH tune [why on Earth????] that was not designed for a TC'ed car. His car is, as rally says, often getting one thing or another fixed. We're talking for weeks at a time here. Hubie may be making 430 whp with nitrous, but Jan is not. Just like some of the other TC'ed cars, he is having 'problems.'
He did install the new fuel system, so we'll see. But, more fuel won't help much if the recipe is unstable...
