MC exhausts

Can anyone compare the Milltek vs. Borla vs. Helix vs. Mini Sport exhaust (is it JCW? or is there a JCW you can get w/o the "sound kit") exhausts for the MC (non S) in sound and performance? Feel free to add other exhausts if I missed a good one in the same price range.

I’ll start it off based on info from Webb Motorsports web site:

Milltek 4.6 hp/23 lbs.

Borla ????/26 lbs.

Helix ????/25 lbs.

Mini Sport ????/??

Helix had a great write up Grass Roots Motorsports on their MC exhaust a while back. I think it made the most power.

MC Exhausts

I've researched this extensively, as I have an '06 Cooper on order, and want an exhaust that will make a few hp and have a mellow, low "throaty" tone w/o excessive noise or "drone" at cruise. If that's what you want, from my research and pm-ing a couple of NAM posters who have the Milltek, I don't think you can go wrong with it. When looking an hp numbers, keep in mind that you are not going to be able to feel any difference in just a few hp.

I have a Helix on my Cooper CVT and love the sound. While I don't know what HP was added to my car by choosing the Helix, really, ANY catback increase on the base horsepower is a significant boost over the standard exhaust's output and blah sound.

Thanks

I appreciate the feed back. I’d really like to hear about the JCW offering in comparison to Miltek. From what I have been able to read over the last two years scattered on threads the Miltek seems to be the one with the British sound, no rice and no drone. The weight savings is good for autocross. Any other better for hp performance?

Too bad Invidia didn’t make a Titanium Tip one for the MC as the those blue tips would look really nice with the Black Eyed Purple I plan to get next year.
