Intro from a new 06 owner

Just dropping a quick hello from a new forum member here on Oahu...

I have a 06 MCS Astro Black/Silver Top on order and expected to arrive at the end of Nov sometime... Please check out the config here..
http://www.miniusa.com/link/buildyourown/custom?eid=69001&tid=1037&pid=1042323&sendconfigid =1110799&rs=AY4B5FJX0CLBSKL9

I currently have a 91 Turbo Miata that I will be getting rid of and am the webmaster for the Miata Club of Hawaii website/forum (currently under a conversion to ASP code)... http://miataclubofhawaii.com/

Some of you might of seen my car on the street or down at the track sometime...

This car will be sold off at the beginning of November to the mainland (mods listed here: http://www.jackpipe.com/) and the MCS will become my new speedster... and will be back down autocrossing in G-stock after proper engine breakin....

I can't wait!

welcome!

--Cool design! I didn't know you could put a silver roof on them now! Nice! I think my order might come in the same time as yours. I've got an 05 Jet black with white roof coming in mid November. See you out there Motoring man!

oh... maybe pyratio....

My MCS is "scheduled for production" and the salesman said it is slated for the first week of September... Are you in the same status on the Mini order tracking site?

very good selection, smart built Mini, the only thing that I would consider is Aero Kit.

i thought about the Aero kit.. but also read that it was kinda junk, as in paint issues in the years as it gets older...

I'll stick with what I have... would like the mesh front though...

--Actually I just checked the status on my Mini last night and it says it's been born! Yeah! So it's sitting on the docks right now waiting for a boat. My Mini was part of the last batches for 2005 so the word is they're currently shutting down parts of the plant to retool for 2006 models. I can't imagine what they're retooling except for changing out paint canisters and reprogramming robots to recognize the different colors. But other people on the forum have said that the last batches of 2005 models may not be enough to fill a boat, so they may wait for the first batch of 2006, which sounds like your production date, before they ship out.

However I also called the customer service at Mini and they said it will be at least 26 days from Oxford to California once they are on a transport boat so I'm thinking october, or early November at the soonest.

heck yah.... prob the same boat..... but I have to wait even longer as it comes to Hawaii from Cali...

plus that means you'd have to wait at least 2 weeks for my car to get done and loaded...as Sep 1st is when Ask-Mini says it will be done...

For your sake, hopefully they will ship out the last 05s together... but you know they won't ship until the boat is full....

can't..........wait.........too.........long...... ...

--Still awaiting transport. This Friday will make it 2 weeks it's been sitting at the docks. It'll probably be between 5 to 10 days between Cali and here. I understand they unload them in Cali and perform a bunch of checks on the car in Cali, THEN they load it onto another ship. So if that is done quickly and they don't wait too long for another boat then it'll be about October/November timeframe.

I can't believe I'm not going nuts waiting for it. Actually I'm just shopping around for accessories for it, ie. tint, clear bra, anything vaguely necessary for this car. =)

Congrats on your new MCS. I too am awaiting an '06 MCS, PW/BR, that is scheduled for production on 9/7/05. Anybody know the transport time from Oxford to Seattle? My patience is waning.......I put my deposit down all the way back in May. I was told, however, not to expect to be motoring until March or April so I suppose a little longer is no big deal. I should just be happy that it will be here before winter........I hope.

I am selling a '97 Miata when my MCS comes in.

They also repair boat damaged MINIs at the PDC in Cali. If you have a metallic color, check tomake sure the color is blended correctly. they have had problems in the past. If I remember correctly, your Motoring Advisor can also find out what work was done to your car while it was at the PDC. However, this was a couple years ago and I'm not sure if they still do that for you.

bon-voyage!

--Thanks Blown-Lone-Star, I got some good news today. The owners lounge said that my car is en-route to California as of this Saturday! Roehrigs said that it's probably on one of two boats. If he's right my baby is on the Carmen slated to leave port on Wednesday. Woohoo!

If I'm lucky she'll get here before one of our meets and I can rack up some miles for the break in and cruise wit U guys and gals.

the cover up job in Cali

--Wow thanks for the tip on "da real scoops on cali". I've got a Jet black MCSa, but I hope I don't find bondo and a touch up job when I pick my Mini up. That would suck! I'll ask my MA about that. Thanks beastmaster.

Well, the longer you wait, the more that full tank of gas from the dealership will be worth!
