Boo Hoo!! Woo Hoo!!

Well I'm all happy-and-sad at the same time today.

As many of you know, I have been waiting for my new MINI to arrive from across the pond while showing the current one to prospective buyers.

Yesterday (Saturday 08-13) the '04 PW/B found her new life-partner in Shawn from Raleigh, NC. We had talked a few times this past week and decided to 'meet in the middle' in Greensboro to see the car and let him take it for a test drive. Shawn brought his wife and 4 year old daughter and everybody loved the MINI. What is it with young kids? They really 'get it' when it comes to MINIs! I have 2 six-year-old nieces and a four-year-old niece and nephew... they all love the MINI. Anyway, after a bit of back-and-forth we closed the deal and Shawn and I headed to Charlotte to clear the title at the bank. We knew we had until Noon. There's a whole 'nother story that goes with the bank, but suffice it to say that all ended well and I watched a grinning ear-to-ear new MINI owner drive away with my car

Ack! I'M MINIless!!!
I have to get a rental on Monday... what a drag that'll be, yuk

I had seen yesterday that the FRANCONIA was coming in a day early and was now due at Charleston on Sunday (nice timing on the sale, eh?) So I checked the MINI OL this morning and for the first time I have a delivery date showing!! This coming Saturday the 20th

Figure it'll be at Hendrick late this week so perhaps if you come down Saturday you can see it 'dirty'
I'll go check it out and be certain the factory order is correctt(Sheesh I sure hope so!) then its off to the shops [Loren] for a full Aero Kit (just can't NOT have one on this car) and install the JCW airbox and injectors, strap on the anthracite R90s and THEN it's party time.
I figure I won't be able to take delivery until the following week ...unless I get real lucky and can convince the various folks to have it ready by Saturday 20th with everything.

?George asked me in another thread when the delivery party would be?

As a floater, I suggested a 'coming-out' event at Sonic at Speedway Blvd. on Saturday 27th? (There's a brand new one opened this past month just to the left if you head towards the Speedway)

I'll buy a Green Slush (or closest matching color to your MINI if you prefer)for every MINI!

Congratulations on the sale of your '04. As a coming out event you can join us on the 27th in Winston-Salem for the drive planned there.

Congrats Steve on finding a new owner for your Beautiful Mini. I look forward to the coming out party for FRANCONIA.

I did a bit of changing on my convertible yesterday  --it looks like a week 37 build for me with delivery the end of October or 1st week of November.

Cheers,
Debi

Very Cool For You! Should still be warm enough to enjoy excessive top-down motoring (with the heat turned up as required of course)

Sorry for the name confusion, FRANCONIA is the K-Line ship the new car is on (or hopefully off-loaded at this point). She doesn't have a name at this point.

Thanks Bob, 'preciate it. I'm uncertain if I want to drive that great course you mapped out with just a few miles on the car... gotta think about that a bit more. It should be a great rideabout without a doubt (hmmmm that sorta rhymes)
Perhaps if I can get my hands on the car by next Saturday I can rack up enough break-in to feel less anxious about the W-S trip.

As the W-S drive will be a group affair with mixed driving attitudes and abilities, I don't plan on setting a overly spirited pace. Keeping within your breakin guidelines shouldn't be a problem.

Steve, glad to hear you found a good owner for your MINI...(just in time)

I didn't know they opened a new Sonic on Speedway blvd. I'll have to go check that out, I don't live to far from there.

Looking forward to seeing you and your new MINI soon!

Fair call. Then count me in so long as I have the car by then (if not I'll be)

I haven't been for a drive out from the Flow area since sring of 2004 when I went on a Flow-sponsored MINI Ralley (have a great video of that one... about 80 MINIs went)

Add my name ...and bring a christening present

just take deep breaths

Hi Steve,

Yay! Your old Mini has a new home - a happy one I am sure.

Just want to let you know that you CAN survive this interim time. I have done it. I had to drive another car for three (THREE) weeks between selling and arrival... At first I thought people were being polite and staying off my back bumper -- then I realized the car I was driving had a trunk! (duh)

So, if I can do it, so can you!
Have fun!
Sarah

Thanks! I take heart from your 3 week long ordeal... mine will likely be just one. I started out with some huge@$$ pickup truck because the car rental place did not have the one I requested (or anything else for that matter) Yikes!! That was weird item to drive about... and it sucked gas! Back and forth from Concord to Charlotte cost nearly a quarter tank. I had to go to another rental lot and swap out the next day and now I'm in a Dodge POS Neon.

Boy oh boy am I appreciating my MINI!!
