Anyone watching the Sci Fi Channel? The show the Master Blasters are about to launch Mini Coopers with a rocket. How cool is that?

 

I honestly think that is pretty stupid. It serves no purpose other than to destroy perfectly beautiful MINIs for the fun of it.

Some of these "Monster Garage" type shows really have gotten out of hand.

Why won't they launch Hummers or SUVs instead? That's what they are good for!

 

i enjoyed that, it was worth it lol

 

The blue one was awesome!!! I love the MINI, but that was just too cool! (Then again, if you know me, I love rockets :smile: )

I'm with you, C4! I felt queasy watching the MINIs being blown up and twisted.......not fun for me to watch!

I missed the beginning of the program. Where did they get the MINIs, anyway?

on a lighter note, a couple of nights ago, I saw an old Simpsons....Homer and the family go to London and rent a car...Homer rents a red MINI /white top and drives around and rams the carriage containing the Queen of England and he is sent to The Tower....very funny episode, especially for me as we just spent a week sightseeing in London.....has anyone seen this episode, or has everyone already seen it and I am the last one on the planet to see it?

There were there a few SUVs and pickup trucks. Noticed the 2 black Cadillac Escalades?

This show had a marked "anti-MINI" agenda. I guess all those SUV drivers had to get back at the MINI one day!

Revenge!!!!

 

I also missed the beginning but apparently these MINIs were CVTs purchased brand new. I wonder if MINIUSA "donated" the cars directly (Doubtful) or some local dealer facilitated SCI-FI access to these cars.

The cars appear to be pre-2005's.

Sad, sad.

 

Hey! Why don't we, as a MINI community, get two teams together to fire off some Escalades?!?!? I'm sure there are enough talented people here that we could do it! :smile: I'll volunteer to be on a team and contact Sci-Fi channel!

The blue one was flying at 1441FT and 175MPH so the parachutes had almost ZERO chance to deploy and control the descent of the car.

Still makes me MAD!

Not brand new, but pretty close. They were purchased for about $15k apiece from a dealer (not here in Texas though). I think they were dealer test drivers.

I doubt severely if MINI had much to do with this show. Did you notice how they just called them "small sport cars". Never used the words "MINI, Cooper, or BMW". I'll bet that BMW wouldn't let them.

 

I don't think MINIUSA is going to be too thrilled about rocket experiments with their star automobile.

For instance, when Monster Garage (Discovery Channel) build the Cooper "Snowmobile" there was endorsement of the show and the car at the MINIUSA website.

We can launch pimped out escalades with 24" spinners on them, and those gem studded wheel nuts.

Let's see how fast those spinners spin....

 

I'm not going to watch good MINIs being destroyed for "fun".

Look at it this way...our MINI's are even more rare now that there are two less out there. I liked the show. That blue MINI was FLYING.
