Yes, it is sad indeed. I have a 4 month old boy, and my wife and I agree that we need something more "baby friendly".

I will certainly miss it.

Vanderspunk has 2 baby seats in his Mini, and he says it's not hard to mount & dismount the kids in them.

I agree, I have 2 baby seats in mine (3 and 5 year old) and though it's a tad tight, it works great, especially with the sunroof and windows to look out on. The access in and out are fantastic, and if you're using LATCH seats, you're golden. My $0.02

Good info.....

I was wondering what people with kids thought of the in-out access.

we fit fine in the drivers seat too.

If i could fit 3 DIFFERENT people over 6 foot tall comfortably in the back seat, and they had easy access in and out... i imagine a baby would be cake. Granted, i'm sure people worry about the baby's safety... but i thought it was a pretty safe car.

I have two kids in the back of mine. One is almost 6 and the other is 2. Other cars are easier to load babies in and out of, but the Mini works fine. Besides, if baby needs a bottle or something, the car is so small it can be done comfortably from the front seat.

I wouldn't want to try to fit a rear facing infant seat in a MINI. A forward facing toddler seat is no problem though. And I agree that it does make it easy to reach into the back if you need to hand your kid something. I even buckle him while I'm sitting in the driver's seat.

Car seat yes, rear facing infant seat no

I agree that using car seats for your kids works fine in the Mini. I've done it many, many times.

I've also done the rear-facing infant seat behind the passenger and my wife's knees were riding the glove box.

So if you can deal with the infant seat for a while you're golden.
