Who makes the most detailed models? Size, cost, source, etc.?

AutoArt and Kyosho have to be on the top of anyone's list. They make all scales from 1/18th to 1/43 any smaller then that you need to look at Hongwell (Cararama), Schuco or Siku they all make 1/82 scale. Price will vary from around $65 for a Kyosho JCW in 1/18th to a buck for the Hotwheels and Matchbox.

I second Smokey's recommendations. In the 1/43 scale, MINICHAMPS from Germany makes very high quality die-cast replicas, including the new MINI.

I have collected die-cast models for over 25 years. Among my stable of MINI/Mini diecasts, I have an original Matchbox classic Mini from the "Superfast" Series dated 1970, with original and mint box. The model is 35 years old and was never played with

I usually order diecasts from this company:

Yep, is red #29 made by Lesney Products & Co LTD, London England, 1970.

I had one in my childhood but don't remember if that one was also a 29 or 3.

Later in that decade, Matchbox released a "cartoon" version of that same Mini with the driver wearing a helmet, fat rear tires and bodywork.

Kysoho has a very detailed MCS 1/18th, especially if you want the stock 16" wheels. I have the BRG/W, the only one I saw available.

regards,
Red
