How can I shut up my DON'T MOD conscience?

I am now in some sort of mode where I really question taking off the stock MINI equipment and putting on aftermarket (ie JCW/M7). It really wasn't a problem with my wheels and tires because my originals are still my winter go to combo ( I really don't want to be sliding around on $2100 in rims and rubber). I really like my MINI now, but of course like most, (with our more feminine counterparts maybe not as much), Men of this species, I will always want that faster 0-speed limit time, a cooler looking car, and better handling on the twisties. What should I do to calm down my inner don't mod conscience?

Kick your conscience in the groin until it shuts up, then mod away to your heart's content.

Since JCW isn't really aftermarket, you can get around it that way. Plus I believe that you may be able to keep all the stock parts with the conversion, plus you usually can with aftermarket stuff too, either that or you can sell it.

It is always possible to revert to stock. If you have the time and desire.

Goodluck w/ that Mikey! If you've got the drive, it's hard to resist. Of course, you're looking at your car from a particular point of reference (faster 0-60 for example)...as long as that is so you'll continue modding. However, there are other perspectives.

I have (virtually) no mods, I drive a Cooper, and I love it...and I am a die-hard enthusiast! I have a friend who is one of the best restorer of classic Minis around these parts...he drives a Cooper CVT, totally unmodded. There are lots of owners who very deliberately and purposefully do not mod anything (or at least very little) on their MINIs.

If you're solely immersed in "the culture", though, you're sunk buddy!

That restraint tactic doesn't always work. When it comes to cars, my "female voice of reason" is sitting on the left shoulder, and actively conspires with the mod bug.

She dreams of a Whipplecharger on her truck.
Or her Mustang.
Or both.

I want an Autorotor upgrade on the MINI.

In an ideal world, we'd both get "twinscrewed."
Heck, she could do both of hers, and I could get a Quaife, too!

Sounds equitable to me-- and both of us would have that "fresh-modded glow."

The main factor that holds us back is knowing that if we did it, we'd be so broke we'd probably be unable to afford to buy fuel again before the world's known petroleum reserves are exhausted...

One can always dream, or at least pine a bit, right?
