Most mod-friendly Chicago dealer...
Mark,
I've had my MINI serviced at both Knauz and Patrick with good results at each. Both seem to be "enthusiast friendly" dealerships, but I'd have to say Patrick is little more so. They prepare and service a number of BMWCCA and MINI race cars.
Happy Motoring!

I bought and have my MINI serviced at Patrick. My car has quite a few mods done to it - including a roll bar - and I've never once had a problem there with my upgrades. I reccommend them. I did have a service advisor once ask me after seeing the roll bar "so what exactly do you DO with that car anyway?" I just responded "I just drive it on Sundays," with a big grin.
Adam took care of me today for the emissions and rear latch fix.
He's a great guy and good service. my car's running great so far.
Adam was enthusiastic about my mods...very cool.
And ofcourse, Chuck babysat me while I waited.
I also test drove
a CVT. Those CVT's are pretty cool...feels like a slippin' clutch
burning effect but has decent pickup. Loved the HK stereo...wow!
completely different from my clock-radio sounding MCS.

Yeah Adam rocks - I was there yesterday too but didn't see your car.
I had a CVT loaner and hated it with a passion - the rubber banding was extremely annoying and the on-off throttle transitions are jerky as hell. The CVT in my mom's A4 cabrio is a technological marvel by comparison, with prefectly smooth shifts and well chosen ratios.
Happy to have a loaner though!

mark- wat time were you there? I had a 9am appointment and was
there for exactly an hour.
The CVT drives well in D mode, i think, and gets pretty rough when you
enter Manual mode...maybe I just don't know how to shift.. wat I didn't
like about that shifter is that when you pull back to 'shift up' or
contract the pully?
the button on the shifter would get in
the way.
i know it doesn't do anything if you push the button on the shifter
while you pull back, but just annoying that it's there. otherwise I
thought the CVT was pretty cool, but looses the driving fun factor by
maybe 1/2. The HK system along with some dressup parts should make
it a nice commuter or a weekend relaxing cruiser.
