05 Mini antenna

I read somewhere that the 05 antenna is also good for Sat radio reception?
That no other antenna or wiring needs to be added? Was hoping this is true and that the hook-up is easy... anyone?

As I understand the 05 cars have the Navi antenna and radio into one antenna. I don't know about using the antenna for an aftermarket navi.

My car is a March '05 build without nav or Sirius. I took my antenna apart and found that it's only for radio reception. There are no leads for satellite radio or nav.

If you want to put in the OEM Sirius kit, you'll need to get a replacement antenna. The reason I pulled mine apart was to see if I could fit the guts of my Sirius plug and play antenna into the base of the stock antenna. It's a tight fit and I may need to do some trimming of the Sirius to make it work.

I tried to use the existing antenna but no luck. I bought the XM tuner and the Blitz adapter and have been happy ever since. The second antenna was placed next to the factory, and I don't even notice it.

Good Luck - Fred

I put my XM antenna directly behind the factory ('05 mcs) antenna and it's been perfect. NJoy!

Still looking for a good place to put itin the convertable. For now it is taped between the back seats on the roll bar, works ok. Now I need to make a bracket for it.

I have the OEM Sirius set-up. The antenna is the same but the base is different and contains the sat antenna.

There aren't any pictures of it yet, but I will be doing it soon again, so pictures will be available soon. I must stress, this is a fairly technical modification, and you MUST have soldering skills to pull it off properly...
