Can anyone reccommend an excellent restaurant?

 

All sorts of them. What kind of food? What kind of price? You driving? Stuck on the Strip? Downtown?
Vegas has hundreds, if not thousands of good restaurants. Give us something to narrow the choices down a bit.

 

When I go to Vegas I rarely eat at any fancy resturant or any casino buffet, because (being from the east coast) it is my one chance to eat THE BEST fast food hamburgers ever made. I am, of course, talking about In-N-Out burgers (located across I-15 behind Excaliber and New York, New York). They are the only fast food joint in the nation to use fresh (not frozen) meat, and always win best taste awards for fast food joints. If you are not familiar, they are like a 50's diner look, and only server burgers, fries and shakes. The shame is that they are only in California and Nevada. So if you are out there and have never tried them, give them a shot. Just be warned, during peak times they get REAL crowded (when your the best, people want you).

CamelPilot is located in LA, home of In-N-Out.
But I agree, In-N-Out rocks. I have friends in Nebraska who come to Vegas a couple of times a year and make it a point to always hit In-N-Out at least once per trip.

What kind of food... hmm.. any kind, except Italian. To me, all Italian food tastes the same.

Price is not a barrier. I just want a really good place that can back up it's prices with some really good food and atmosphere.

Oh yes, driving. Not stuck on strip, but prefer a place with good parking, because I will have the MINI.

 

If you like a kick *** steak dinner there is a steak house in the Circus Circus hotel that is awesome ! Its a little pricy but worth it. I know it doesnt sound like the hotel that would have a great steak house but it does. You will want to make reservations if you decide to eat there, they fill up quick and if you try to make reservation the same day you may be eating dinner at 10:pm ;-)

Let's see...I've heard good things about Buccaneer Bay in TI (on Strip) but have never eaten there.
I was pretty happy with the food at Rum Jungle (brazillian bbq in Mandalay Bay) and the setting is cool.
If you're into wine, Areolae at Mandalay Bay has a 3 story wine-rack with girls on wires flying to retrieve bottles. I've heard the food is good, but pricey.
For the coolest settings, try either the revolving place at the top of the Stratosphere, or the place overlooking the fountains at Bellagio. Also you could try the Voodoo Lounge at the top of the Rio for excellent views.
Pretty much any of the newer Strip properties will have a number of good restaurants, in a variety of styles.
"Anything except Italian" and "price is not a barrier" don't really help me narrow options much. I usually hit places around the $15-$30 a head range. If you want places that are higher than that, I can only give hearsay.

 

Yes, the steakhouse in Circus Circus is supposed to be one of the best in town. There's also a good one in New York New York, and N9NE at the Palms is supposed to be excellent also.

 

Just ate at the Wynn hotel on Saturday, and was very impressed with the food, service and pricing. The hotel is brand new, and very impressive. We ate at the reataurant that overlooks the pool and cabana area. Highly recommended! The Desserts are to die for too!

The Maserati and Ferrari dealership IN the Hotel is way cool too!

 

One of the nicest spots in Vegas is the restaurant in the Eiffel Tower in the Paris Hotel. Great food, great view of the Belagio fountains from the Tower restaurant

Um...something about that statement doesn't scan right.

 

Wish I knew the name of this place in the Venetian that has the worlds best artichokes - they are prepared in some sauce, grilled I think, and are really addictive. If you like artichokes maybe someone here can help you find it (and heck I'd love to know the name of the place for the records).

I've only been in Vegas once overnight and if I ever go back I have to find that place again!

 

If there's one thing more prevelant in Vegas than casino's, it's good resaurants. Most all of the major casinos have killer places to eat. Find the casino of your choice, ask for the best restaurant in the place and make your reservation early.
Our personal favorite is a small italian place (I know, you don't like italian) off the strip on Convention Center Drive called Piero's. The Belligo has outstanding places too. As mentioned, the top of the Stratosphere is also nice.
Bottom line, it's hard to go wrong if cracking open the wallet isn't a problem.

There used to be a steakhouse, just off the strip called "The Flame". It was, without a doubt, the best steak in town.

As has been said before, there are hundreds of great restaurants in Vegas!

As for parking, any of the major casino/hotels will have free valet parking. Hand the guy who takes your car a five, and he'll mark you up for expedited service, meaning you'll get your car back nice and quick when you're ready to go. I love Vegas, even though gambling has little if no appeal...

Mainly for the food!

Some favorites include:
Alize at the top of the Palms Hotel/Casino (off the strip) - extremely expensive, but the highest quality cuisine in Vegas.

Bobby Flay has a place in Ceasar's Palace, Mesa Grill, that makes the best prickly pear margaritas you've ever tasted. Very modern decor, with a cool grill/oven structure up high behind glass that makes for a unique experience.

Wolfgang Puck has several palces in town, at various hotels. All good, but not necessarily romantic...

Other people already recommended restaurants at Bellagio and Mandalay Bay, and having eaten at several of them, I concur. Jasmine at Bellagio is the best spot to watch the incredible fountain shows. Olives, a transplant from Boston (chef Todd English) is also on the water there. Shanghai Lilly at Mandalay Bay is supposed to be their premiere romantic spot.

There are a couple of neat places inside the shopping area at the Venetian - you can eat "outdoors" under an artificial sky, at "sidewalk" cafes near the hustle and bustle of Mall-crazed gambling shoppers, while you watch the gondolas glide along the indoor canals.

For an incredibly special treat, onl;y available Sunday mornings, at Bally's of all places, the Sterling Brunch will knock your socks off. This is an unadvertised, "secret" of Vegas: It's expensive (Last time we went, it was about $50 per person, plus tip), and hard to find (It's in the back corner of the casino, at what is normally a steak house restaurant in the evening, but it is F A N T A S T I C !

It's a champagne brunch: all you can eat, but amped-up beyond belief: Lobster, Caviar, Sushi made to order, prime rib, duck, quail, fresh fruits and melons, exotic cheeses, omelletes, eggs, ham, potatoes, asparagus, baked goods beyond description, and more, and more... all accompanied by free-flowing champagne! (Mixed drinks are available to order at extra charge) Incredible service, and the staff will go out of their way to make you happy. This is a real treat, and very impressive for your guests. Even when you know what to expect, it's still surprising how great it is.

You need to make reservations in advance: call Bally's to make arrangements.

Bear in mind that Bally's also offers a traditional breakfast buffet in the normal buffet location. This is nothing special, and should not be confused with ***The Sterling Brunch***.

Anyway, thinking about Vegas makes me hungry!

The Circus Circus steakhouse IS awesome! I haven't eaten there in ages, but I still remember the fantastic chateaubriand dinner I shared, years ago! It was top-notch, the service was excellent, and it was VERY romantic, too!

N.Y.-NY Steak House has a GREAT Surf and Turf, small place, no view, great service and wines-Dry Aged Steaks are incredible

WolfGang Pucks Restaurants are ALL good but NO view, open- almost fast-food feeling

The Paris -restaurant in the Eifel Tower was very Good, great service, great view

Restaurant at Bellagio was VERY GOOD, outdoor-Near Water show or indoor seating, Drink Prices were OUTRAGEOUS- drink water

I say ol Chap, good to see you here! That sounds like a marvelous idea if we can manage it. To tell you the truth I was actually going to do the Red Rock Run (from AMVIV) just for the fun of it on either the Saturday or the Sunday.

My free schedule for the weekend are as follows:
Saturday: 9.30am - 2.30pm
Sunday: 1.00pm - 6pm

Actually it's not really "free" time, but those are the times I'll be able to do a run, and if we manage one, I'll plan around it.

I would really love it if we manage to concoct something up Mark, even if it's just 3 cars. . I think Red Rock would be good, dont you??

I ended up in LV every November for almost 20 years for the COMDEX show...w/ crowds of over 125,000 people we made it a point to get off the strip.....and our end of show tradition became an incredible meal at the Pamplemousse (French for grapefruit) restaurant, then catch the red-eye back to Boston. I haven't been to sin city for nearly two years tho' so you should call to see if it's still around. It's "behind" the LV Hilton/Convention Center. Drivable.

 

The evening I spent at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant still stands as the best meal I have ever had. It can get pricey... if you like wine, share some appetizers and enjoy the suffle for dessert, the price is going to skyrocket. Our tab came to $1,800 for 6 of us.

Worth EVERY penny.

 

Jeez, Donovan! That is just about equivalent to the budget for my annual 7-8 week roadtrip cross-country in Wanda!!! (Thanks to the generosity of many friends who host me in their homes.) $1800!!!!!!!
