Has anyone had this new s/w installed. I am taking my MCS in for a new coolant recovery resevoir (big surprise, huh?) and my dealer told me that they have a new cd with 3.2 s/w but they don't know what changes are in it. Every works great now, should I mess with it?

I'm checking on this tomorrow, so I'll send you the info ASAP when I get it.

I was told, by a very knowledgable tech, that 3.2 was for the CVT, adn there would be a further 3.3 that was also for the CVT coming out in February.

I'll double check and post it tomorrow though.

Randy

Heard about this too!

3.2 for Auto trans

I am happy with the way my six speed runs now and not sure I want any downloads done that can not be reversed?

If your car is running fine don't get the update unless it is a mandatory procedure from factory. Updates are not reversable, so beware.

Gee! A leaky coolant tank in an S? I've never heard of this before .
I actually emailed MiniUsa 3 weeks ago about this and have yet to receive
a reply. I also asked about the coolant color change and this is the second
time that has happened for me. I am delaying getting the coolant tank
replaced because the design sucks. I know someone on their fourth!!!!

Mardav,

Just checked with gurus at MINI to find out the truth on software.

3.1 should have come with all cars manufactured in late August and beyond.

3.2 is an upgrade for cars made 9/02 and later that only has car key options - nothing at all that deals with motor issues.

3.3 is due out late January and is a cold start fix for Coopers and has some CVT functions.

Hope that helps!

Randy

Thanks Randy,
I also got a call from my dealer who said same thing (for 2003 models).
Two Minis...Dealer says "coolant color change?" like it's the first time they heard of it, right! MINI USA did email me on this a while ago and said 'BMW engineers are aware of this and looking at the situation' whatever that means.

>>Two Minis...

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but this just caught my eye.

On MCO we actually have 2 2 minis.

The original, hilarious, post-monger: 2minis

and a much newer addition: TwoMINIs

So, let's get out there and post! But be careful not to confuse me!

Dealer here acknowledged both the coolant tank and colour change issues and went as far as having the new coolant tank plastic welded along the horizontal seam (halfway up the tank) before fitting it. Haven't had a problem since then...... we wait, and wait.....
