As I understand it, the first aid kits are required on the other side of the pond. We don't get em here.

There is a First Aid kit with the Mini logo available. I think they are around $22. Since I took delivery in Italy, it was included in the driver's side compartment in the trunk. I also got a generic light-bulb kit, but I don't think it would work for Xenon replacement!

I concur. But I have a kit from an old Lexus rolling around in my boot.

Mine was missing the first aid kit from the getgo. not that I really cared.

I didn't check it when I picked up the car so it's my loss. I have another
kit from another car so I just use that instead.

You will find quite a few inconsistancies between what your car has and the manual. Have the HK sound system? The manual says it has speed sensitive volume that you can adjust... you can't... There's others...

FWIW, I don't think anybody in the US has gotten a first aid it, if you really want one, I'd suggest your local WalGreens or CVS instead of MINI.

another point. Many first aid kits have things that do not do well in high heat or sub freezing temps. Make sure the kit you buy is one that can be stored in the car.

HK? no you can adjust the non-HK systems. The few radios that have HK and have the option to change the speed sensitive settings don't actually change anything.

On the non-HK systems, it works as advertised though...

I have the First Aid Kit...

I have the "official" first aid kit with the MINI logo on the red bag. I ordered it from Formby's in England in February. Check out the website at www.newministuff.com. I think that it is also Mikey the Mini or something like that. I also ordered the official warning triangle and case that stores on the underside of the rear deck lid (ever wonder what the 4 bumps on there were for?). The first aid kit stores in the driver's side boot compartment. The kit was 14.5 pounds and the triangle was 19 pounds...not cheap when you factor in the exchange rate, but I think they are great, authentic, and unique because VERY FEW of us in the states have them in our MINI's. You CANNOT order them or purchase them from any dealer in the USA. I tried. Canada maybe, but not here.

Postage and shipping was an additional 26 pounds, because the triangle is heavy. The legs on it are metal.

MOTOR ON......

OH here we go again. Any thread that has HK in it always ends up on this subject. The adjustment can be made in the HK system, however it makes no difference what you set it to.

The HK system is preset wrt speed sensitive volume, and the setting that the user can change, changes nothing.

Nope, those that do have the option to make the adjustment on the HU with HK can move that adjustment all day long... it doesn't do anything...

I do believe it has something to do with the FDA’s regulations with some of the items in the MINI First Aid Kit (FAK) that it is not allowed to be installed in the MINI here in the US.

That will not stop you to buy one if you wish as I just did through a group buy from Germany. Some 20 of us at Sunshine MINIs now have the MINI FAK for our cars.

Some 5 or 10 people also bought the MINI Roadside Emergency reflective vests at the same time.

They also come up on eBay time to time.

Sorry Doc, 02's didn't have HK's in them and the standard HU did work as the manual says because I did have one before I put in an after market HU.

The very same ones. Where the little covers are on the sides.

Let me see if I can dig a picture up for you.

Well I'll be. I didn't think it looked safe to store crap in there. That could be useful.

More importantly, you best check for a spare tire. My May '02 has no spare as it has run flats.
