The"lets chat thread"
Just so the math does not get to messed up with the sign-in thread, I started this one so we can say Hello, and get this forum really going.
I'll start.
Hey there, how goes it, eh.
It would be nice to have a place on NAM to yak, and not have to convert KMs to miles, litres to gallons. Nobody asks,"Whats that cord hanging out the front of your MINI for". Yes, there is a block heater for our MINIs now.
Our friends south of the 49th are encouraged to join in, they may have to do their own conversions though:smile:
So whatever ya want to talk about, except POLITICS, lets have fun when we're not out motoring

I figured I shouldnt be chatting in here since I am not from the Great White North. But I am currently listening to Rush (my favorite band), I am well aquainted with the usage of 'eh', 'oot' and 'aboot' and I am due for another trip to Toronto to visit friends there. Does that count?
Besides, Lotsie, I see you oot and aboot in other threads in NAM.

Arn't you suppose to be pithed right now while posting?

Kick back, have some brew of your liking and post to the board like you said you were. We’ll all be pithed if you started a thread and didn’t follow through with it.

Lot,
14 posts and we are already completely over-run!!!
Back to the "let's chat" part...
Heading up to Edmonton tonight...first time Max has been on a "road-trip"...will finally check out cruise control. Using the Colgan bra to keep off the bugs and road rash...I will let you know how it goes. I actually think the bra looks kinda "macho"...(is that possible??
)
I have a phone number for someone in Edmonton who is selling his 15" hollies...I hope I can convince him to take the tires off (which I don't want)...hoping to put my winter tires on the smaller wheels.
Enjoy any U.I. tonight!!

Hey, post here all ya want, that's the point:smile:
Does not matter where your at.
That sticky thread is there to get a count of how many Canucks are on NAM, and I asked that only Canucks post there to save me having to do any math.
If I use the 10% ballpark figure, 30 million of us, 300 million of you folk, the number would be around 1500, judging by the last member count on NAM, and figuring some are from elsewhere other than the U.S. That ain't going to be the case, I figure 50 or so.
Nice to see my NAM buds coming on up and yakking
Now back to that other thread, the pithy one

I look forward to hearing how that bra works. How much was it, and where did you get it?
Have a fun trip, I hear theres thunderstorms in the foothills. Watch out, hail hit not to far from me yesterday the size of baseballs

The drive up to Edmonton on the (newly named) Queen Elizabeth II highway was busy, but uneventful. Cruised at about 120-125 kph the whole way (being passed regularly, but I find 15 kph over the posted speed limit does not attract any attention from our RCMP friends!). Looks like the fuel consumption will be better than I am used to...300 km trip but gauge is still between 3/4 and 1/2.
The Colgan bra did its thing...covered in bugs!!. There is a minor amount of flap/vibration above 100 kph but you just see this occasionally, when the wind gets between the headlight and the bra...otherwise, a great fit, and looks good too!
The Edmonton MINI dealership is still not open...building is completed on the outside, but looks a few months away from being ready.
...until later...

I get about 425KMs on the trip counter when the guage hits 1/2 a tank.
Thats about 6.3/100litre, or 44MPG, our gallons.
The gas guages read poorly, first 1/4 250KM, 1/2 425, 3/4 550, 600 KMs when the reserve/low fuel light comes on, with 8 litres to go, so I figure I could go 700+ Kms on a tank.
Did you notice any scratchs from the bra flaping?
Whats it worth?

BTW, YYC is a very cool username. For those that may not know "YYC" is the three letter code for the Calgary airport (like LAX or DFW).

I purchased the Colgan bra from MiniMania in California. Price was good (US$95) and it was delivered in 3 days (small 18" by 8" box). One month later I got the customs/brokerage fees from UPS (CAN$49 !!!) - what a bunch of criminals!! I read in another post from Alex at TireRack that they switched to FedEx because these UPS fees were such a rip-off!!
I'm only going to use the bra for road trips...but it is really easy to put on (2-3 minutes tops).
Be careful with the Colgan bra! I used one on my roadtrip last year, drove through some rain, debris lodged between the bonnet and the bra, causing very deep scratches. Wanda will need to be repainted at some point. But, of course, she has so many chips from all her roadtrips that she was going to need repainting, anyway!

Yeah tell me about chips, the metalic paint kind of hides them, nobody else sees them, but to me Poco looks like he has freckles
If I do get one I think I would only use it when going for spirited gravel backroad motors
