The"lets chat thread"
Oh no you don't Lot!
They tried to teach me metrics in grade school and I successfully resisted.
This Canadian Thread is just some sneaky way to try to get us Americans to convert to your evil measurement system.
Give you 2.54 centimeters and you'll take 1,609.344 meters
aaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!
Well, I ignored what I said earlier and merrily motored through a thunderstorm north of Red Deer on Sunday evening. The Colgan bra actually "tightened up" with the moisture and there was no further vibration of the bra edge beside the headlight.
Once home it only took 2 minutes with quick detailer to have the front end of Max looking perfect. So...I think the Colgan bra worked well and looked pretty good. Not a bad road trip. 30.8 L for 404 km on Friday/Saturday = 7.62 L/100 km (37.1 mpg (US = 30.9 mpg)). Not great mileage, but acceptable (the alternative was 12 L/100 km in the Pathfinder).

One cool thing: as YuccaPatrol and I were motoring across the country in Wanda (with her bra on), people saw this tough little mama coming, and literally changed lanes to make way for us! It was like they feared the very evil-looking Wicked Wanda!

I now have 80,000KMs on my MINI, and I need to think about some major work on the front end, not a paint job, but taking it in and getting a pro to do some work on it.
I have been touching up the big chips, and keep the car waxed, but the winters have started to show, and I need to address this. I also have a few door dings, and a dent on the drivers side rear 1/4 panel. Where that came from is mystery.
I also have a piece of crud inbedded in the hatch window that I have been trying to wipe, pick, ignore. It drives me nuts

Still looks good, nobody but me notices what I see.

Found the pic!
And here's how one looks after crossing the Lower 48!
Hey, YYC....that lower portion looks pretty good! Hmmm....maybe I should use it...now that Wanda has the PIAA rally lights, the upper portion wouldn't fit (new cup size, tee hee), but I could still use the lower portion........

Okay, enough flirting you two!!!
Clover, your bra shows too much "skin" beside the headlight and mine shows too much "cleavage".
Difficult to find that perfect fit - protective yet sexy!!!

A return to Canadiana....
I was down in Nelson, B.C. this weekend (not in Max; we were driving Seamus - our '90 Westy).
Two observations:
(1) Not many MINI's in the Kootenays (the fact that the nearest dealer is currently a 7-8 hour drive probably has something to do with it!!!). I did spot an orange convertible in a carport though!!
(2) Unbelievably great roads for MINI motoring. Constant (and I mean constant! :smile
twisties. Rather nauseating when sitting facing backwards in a van! This is a very popular spot with the biker crowd - fantastic roads for any vehicle that loves cornering. I have been to this area of B.C. many times, but always in a VW van. Now I see the potential from a whole different viewpoint. Also, the scenery is spectacular and locals are great.
So, my plan is a second trip sometime in the fall. It is 600km from Calgary (and a rather circuitous route), but it will be worth it!!

I'm surprised that nobody from Toronto has reported in yet, so I'll be the first.
Not a MINI owner yet, but I want to hear impressions of Canadian MINI dealers (especially, but not limited to GTA dealers). I'm still waiting to get over that insurance hump (and to bank some cash). I've been in a MINI showroom a couple of times and sat in a couple of cars.
My parents think I'm crazy for wanting such a "small" car. When I explain the new MINI is way bigger than the original, all they do is shake their heads...

I have had some issues with my now 2 year old, 80,000 km MINI, all have been taken care of.
The "small car" thing is easy to get over when ya tell folks the MINI has 6 airbags, traction control, corner bracking control, 4star crash rating, and the fact you can move,NOW, around anything.
Get out for a motor in a MINI, I'm sure you will be a owner soon
