R50/53 Deals for multiple mini purchases?
Deals for multiple mini purchases?
My father is going to but a MC for himself and a MCS for me. We would be buying them seperatly because he wants his now and i want a 2006. My question is about is buying them at the same time. If we got them at the same time from a good dealer (like Mini of Long Beach or South Bay) would we be able to get a deal? Im not talking anything big, but a grand off MSRP? If there is no benefit, im just going to wait till the 06 comes out.
Thank you,
Blake

With supply and demand being regional, I’m not in a position to comment on how good a deal you might get in CA, but I suspect a two car deal should get you something. If nothing else it should get you very solicitous offers of coffee and soft drinks. I’m curious about why you want to wait for the ’06. Remember there is always the built in advantage to getting a MINI earlier rather than later – you get to drive it more.
Heh. Well, i will get to drool over it by driving the 05 MC... The main reason for the wait is the factory recaro seats and JCW suspension and brakes. If i save some money, i might be able to disregard the instalation costs and get the 05...
Don't hold your breath for any kind of a deal. Unless you are buying at the end of the month, and from dealer stock on-hand... then they might deal. The buttom line is that unless you ask... you never know. Asking here (on Nam) will get you dozens of differring opinons. Call some dealers and ask. Good luck... you'll need it. But really, if your going for stock on-hand at a dealer - the end of the month (last few days) is your best bet!
NealW: Indeed!

minimonkey: Well, the idea came to me tonight (well past dealer closing time). I'm simply curious as to the posibility of a deal. Has anybody here gotten a deal, or do the dealers universally try to screw everybody? BTW: last year we were in the process of buying a mini. We drove to Bob Smith BMW of Calabassas. Walked up to the car we wanted and were shocked to see a mini with an MSPR of 23k going for 29k. Outrageous! Needles to say, my dad didnt want one after that. He bought a Civic for my mom (who was driving a Land Rover and hated the gas mileage) and laughed all the way to the bank. Now were back. Hopefully we can get some kind of a deal...

I checked around
I live in the Charlotte, NC area and when I was in the market, I check with the closest dealers (Greenville, Charleston, Winston-Salem, and Nashville) and none of them would go below MSRP. They were all MSRP to start with (which was good), but none would reduce the cost when buying multiple MINIs. This was before the Charlotte dealership opened.

I have purchased 3 brand new MINIs from the same dealership over the past 2 and a half years, but never once I have been offered a window sticker price discount. However, I have gotten lots of freebies from the dealer and by the time I purchased the second MINI, their $500 refundable deposit requirement was waved for ever.
Some dealers are complete ****** when it comes to freebies and ensure a "customer for life" not just another quick buck sale.
That has to do with the prevailing sales philosophy at the dealership and their passion, or lack of thereof, for the product they sell. Most of these dealers are stuck in the "BMW" mentallity and don't understand or refuse to acknowledge that the MINI and its clientele are a totally and completely different animal that needs to be nurtured from the get go.
BMW buyers (or shall we say, lesees) are affluent people that like cars but some of them get them for the "status" trophy that comes with having the propeller emblem in the hood. Others see these cars as fancy transporation appliances, nothing more.
My dealer goes overboard in ensuring a "Customer for life" and the freebies, no matter how much more they add to their operating expenses" are a little piece of investment with far greater returns, in the form of repeat purchases and word of mouth reputation.
Some dealer's don't get it and never will.

The Magic 8 ball says you'll be getting an '06.
Then again, with the '06 coming in September (per motoringfile), you may BOTH be getting an '06 unless you hurry with the order (or buy off the lot.)
heh. Well, were going to buy within the next couple weeks. Im getting a MCS with most everything (sport pack, JCW Brakes/Suspension, etc...) and my dad is getting a stock MC (he dosent care about options, as long as it runs
). It should be a blast to drive. So, anybody have an idea on build time?

My dealer wouldn’t budge an inch off the sticker
. In fact, they added an “in demand fee”
to the total price. If I hadn’t have wanted that Mini as badly as I did at the time... I definitely would have walked right out the door
. But after the purchase was complete the dealer did promise to give me a good discount if I were to purchase an additional one. I can't imagine any dealer not doing something for a customer getting multiple purchases.

My wife and I put money down on two Mini's on the same day and couldn't get a deal. Now this was last summer, when production was certainly tighter.
We bought an MC and an MCSC. I did get moved up on the delivery list for the convertible; as this was before they were actually shipping.
Good Luck!

our high residuals are a sweet byproduct of this debate. the MINI is BMW's most successful product ever. keep numbers low, demand high, and reap the benefits.
Betcha VW and D-C wished the NB and PTC commanded such mark ups 3 years after their introduction.
but then they upped production and blew it, bubba.
Discounts? Pshaw, perish the thought. pay MSRP like the rest of us
