Just took delivery of my new '03 MCS and I have been busy "detailing" it. I have taken off dealer license plate frames, dealer decal, unecessary asorted notices and stickers. I would like to remove the sunvisor airbag notices....big, ugly yellow, black, and white notices. They don't seem to come off easily, which I foolishly expected. Any suggestions on how to remove them without damaging the visors?

OMG! You didn't take off the sticker that warns you not to use your cell phone with aftermarket wheels while locking children and pets in your car, did you? Hey, don't blame us if something truly evil happens...

I didn't want to damage my sunvisors by trying to get those warnings off....to be honest, I don't know if it's possible. If anyone has any suggestions, however, please let us know!

i'd suggest using "GooGone"... i've used it to remove decals on my motorcycles and i've never had a problem with it... first, peel off the offending sticker... then, use the GooGone to remove the offending adhesive.... good luck...

I've had other cars where those stickers were removable, so maybe it can be done. I hope so!

I don't think it's possable to remove the lables. On my 03 they are printed directly on the cloth covers. Your best bet would be to recover them.

If it's a sticker, take a hair dryer and blow hot air on it and let it get soft. You can then peal the sticker or car name plates or old baked on bumpersticker right off. any sticky stuff left and be removed using Goo Gone or orange or citrus cleaners that are on the market.

I know what you're talking about and they are not stickers per se. They are some type of decal that cannot be peeled off, even with goo-gone. The visors are VINYL fabric so watch out what solvents you use, they may melt or discolor the vinyl. My only thought (if you MUST not see the warnings) is to have then re-covered by an upholstery shop. Shouldn't cost much and you might be able to be creative, versus just recovering with the boring factory gray.

Due to the fact that the visors are "cloth" covered and not vinyl, you can't use Googone. I've done that before so I know what you are talking about. Using that here would smear it all over the fibers of the cloth and make a HUGE mess that you couldn't clean up. Your only options are to either recover or have a sticker cover it. I'm having a local vinyl shop make color matched stickers to go over this.

Are the visors the same in other countries? UK? Canada? I think I'd pay to have the part shipped from a foreign land to get rid of those obnoxious signs. Heck, I've paid enough for Import Vinyl, why not Import Visors.

So, which countries do not believe a sticker can protect the stupid from themselves?

Now, I haven't tried this, but it just MAY work.

Get some shelf paper (like for cupboards) and apply it. Trim to fit. You can make your visors any funky pattern that you want!!

Someone on the MINIUSA.com message boards said they used denatured alcohol but I think they were refering to the dash warning sticker. I just do not see how we can remove the visor warning "stickers"

Thechandler81: you should be very embarrased to say that

as for the warning label, to my knowledge it's printed onto the visor. Recovering sounds like a good idea, I'm thinking alcantra

In lieu of removal, cover it up! See this leather visor cover for a S2000 Honda, a bit pricey at $125. However, the approach is sounc and in the right direction.

Maybe we could get a MINI version fro our MINI AfterMarket Accessorizers?

I'm really too busy looking at the road ahead to notice what's on the sunvisor ... and when it's folded down, the sticker's on the other side. Problem solved.

Here you go: Replacement Visor Decals for S2000

Keep in mind, these stickers probably don't fit size-wise over the Mini stickers, but you can always ask the creator to make some for us!

thanks,
i just e-mailed the creator and asked if he would make them for a MINI Cooper "S"
to say "equipped with a supercharger" instead of "equipped with VTEC"
got my fingers crossed

Others have had luck using denatured alcohol to get rid of the sticker, but I stupidly tried another product (goo-gone type) and it was a disaster. I had to buy a whole new visor that I will be installing today.

I have a Cooper, the sun visors are vinyl covered not fabric. Goof-Off works great to remove the sticker from the viny covered sun visor. The Cooper's headliner has a fabric/velour covering unlike the sun visors. I have cloth upholstery, maybe with Leatherette or Leather you get different visors.

Does the S have fabric covered visors? If it does I don't think you can remove the stickers without ruining the visor.
