Hello everyone. I got a '05 MCS and it idles rough on cold starts. Took it in to the dealership and they said everything was fine....that's it's a common problem with the MCS. Is this true?

It may be a common problem, but it is a PROBLEM. The dealer will have to fix it, whenever they get a software patch written that does.

Keep checking in here and the other MINI sites and you will know when a fix is available.

Don't let them tell you it is "OK" and a "feature" of the car. It is NOT!!!! It is an issue that they need to work on.

My '02 MCS is currently in the shop because of the cold start issue. The dealers are aware and are working with the factory to get a fix.

Yes, it's common and it sucks. The dealers will tell you it's normal. It's not normal, it's common.

Several threads about this. It happens on all years. Some say it's a problem with the software not being compatible with certain summer-time gas formulations. Many owners didn't have the problem until they had their ECU upgraded at the dealer...

BMW = BS

I told Century MINI about my cold stummbling problems and they told me that they were unaware of any problems with other MINI's doing that. Five minutes later a lady walked in and told the same MA that her MINI was still stummbling when cold. In other words they lied straight to my face about it. I have lost all faith in BMW and my MA. The stummble isn't near as bad as being lied to.

Good Luck

This is already a covered subject - and it's even a sticky. Search should be the first thing people use on forums: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...hlight=stumble

The lying is definitely worse than the problem.
