installing new header questions...

hello, i have a few questions about installing headers... i will installed them hopefully next week when i buy them

1. do i usea new OEM gasket?
2. should the car be warm or cold when installing?
3. is this a 1 person job or should i get someone to help me.

any other tips you guys have are welcome!

1. Yes, use a new gasket. They are not that expensive.

2. Cold - unless you are oblivious to burning flesh.

3. Two people are best - you will need that second person to hold
the header in place while you bolt it on.

Oh well, just to make it confusing ...

You do not need a new header gasket
Agree, please do it cold ...
Very easy for one person to do the job.

i didnt mean like at normal running temperature just like a 2-3 minute warm up hehe...

just to make sure is te OEM gasket i can get it at the dealer right?

Heck, 15 seconds will remove most of the skin that comes in contact with it ...

hehe, ooops i guess that was a little dumb... i have change headers before in other people's car but never my own so im a little nervious...

nothing to worry i will post back with some input on my choice of header and improvements when im done!

one last question.... does anyone know what is the torque specs for the screws for the header that go in the block???

that way i wont over do it... i dont want that kind of problem

Sorry, I can't really help more than to ask...wouldn't the new header come with instructions on torque settings? Just a thought. I feel for ya.

thanks, but i got them of a freind who didnt install them no instructions...

Torque setting

The torque is 18 ft-lb to the cylinder head. Make sure the car has enough ground clearance because it remove and install from bottom side. It will not go straight in and it will have to turn and twist a little to get it in. But it is very easy. What catback do you have?

I have the Milltek throught out and it's Sound awesome.

thanks, i have a magnaflow...

i just put it on today! thanks for the help! it sounds great! and i feel alot of power from it!
it was a little hard to slip it in but i got it!
but some how my AC isnt working!... any ideas? what i might of done to make it stop working?
