Getting the HK audio system...what 6 disk changers work with it? Thinking about cancelling my order for the BMW 6 disk changer if another 6 disk fits in OK. I need price & brand. Thanks.

Hey there,

Why cancel the BMW changer? Is there something wrong with it we should know about?

Well, let's start off that numerous people say it's really not all that shock resistant as BMW claims. Also it doesn't play MP3 discs. I can get a 10 disc changer for less $ than the BMW 6 disc. With a little more research I've even found 10 disc changers that play both CD audio and MP3 CD's for cheaper costs than the BMW one. I guess it's really a matter of at least coming close to being current technology then staying in the distant past...

The "BMW" changer is made by Alpine so it's pretty bullet-proof. I do not know of any companies making an adapter yet so that other changers can be used. I think you're stuck with the over priced, but also high quality factory changer for now. If you're an electronics engineer, there's a good project for you.

ordhot,

Check out this thread. Options for BMW's 6 disc changer #1

And this thread as well. Options for BMW's 6 disc changer #2

I plan on getting a minimum of a 10 disc changer that can play MP3 discs.
