I finally requested the SMS from MINI International for their MINI Tune. I was surprised that the international SMS worked, I was under the impression that most of the US carriers disabled international SMS. In any case, the ringtone is pretty catchy and now my default ringer! Has anyone else downloaded this midi file?

I used +1909615#### (where # represents my actual phone numbers) for my number and nothing has come through yet. How long does it take?

I just gave it a shot as well with the international format as +1516369#### (where # is the rest of my number). Still waiting though.

 

It may depend on your carrier. I'm pretty sure T-Mobile allows international SMS, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nextel, Sprint, or Verizon blocked them...

I've just tried and it worked. I'm with Rogers Wireless in Ontario, Canada.
I love the Horn version better but unfortunately my phone doesn't support that format

When requesting cell phone stuff from out of the US, I think you have to put our country code into the number "001". So, it would be 001-areacode-number.

 

does this cost anything extra beside the normal cost of getting an SMS?

Bah, who cares, I put in my number anyway.
Cingular allows for International SMS so I now have both the horn and the tune on my v551.

 

Just to keep count here, international SMS to North America:

Cingular
T-Mobile

I'm on T-Mobile and received the SMS. It cost me $0.05 for the international SMS from MINI (it was a +44 number).

Califzeph, try your number in as +1xxxxxxx. Cell phones (GSM phones afaic) don't need the 00 prefix .

 

I used +1areacodenumber (+1XXX-XXX-XXXX) and it worked on T-Mobile.
