Looking for a good Southern CA Dealer

I am looking to find a good CA dealer that won't overcharge for a Mini Cooper S that I will be ordering. I have talked with Bob Smith BMW, but they were charging upwards of $3000 over msrp. Has anybody had any luck?

Thank you
Blake

I have heard some of the markups are going down or away. Call around and ask. I have been to Crevier MINI in Santa Ana and Brecht MINI in Escondido and they both have a good selection on the lot. Give them a call and see what you find.

If not Classic MINI is a sponsor here as well and Dreyer and Rainhold MINI also MINI of Pittsburgh and MINI of Hamptons. That should give you some dialing time. . Ask price and stock with your option list in hand.

Then check out the rest of the sponsers and start lining up your mods.

Thanks for your help man. As far as stock on lot, i have no problem with waiting for exactly what i want (which is very specific)... My biggest concern is finding a dealer that sint going to try to take me for a ride.

Another thing i have noticed (i dont know if this rings true for most dealers, or if it was just the couple dealers that have done this to me). When you call them on the phone, they give you a reasonable price to get you on the lot, then they rack the price up on me. This is not something i want to do, as im up north right now, and any trip south to check dealer stock had beter be the only one i need to make. O well...

Thank you
Blake

As far as I know the only Southern California dealers to sell their MINIs at MSRP with no mark-up on a consistent basis are:

  • South Bay MINI in Torrance
  • Long Beach MINI

I would definitely suggest going to South Bay MINI. I purchased my 05 MCS there at MSRP plus they threw in LoJack, PolyShield (some kinda car care crap), and floor mats.

My MINI will arrive Crevier in Santa Ana in the next week or so. They did the deal at sticker. Long Beach and South Bay always do MSRP deals. At Irvine it depends on which way the wind is blowing -- you can get window prices if you catch them on the right day (near the end of the month) and ask nicely.

I went to Crevier because they were closest to home, I was treated well and they did the deal I wanted.

Good luck in your search.

I bought my 05 MCS in salt lake city at mini of murray

a lot farther away, but just a couple hour plane flight, got my car just the way I wanted it, and it was not hard to get it registered at all in California. The savings I made on premiums paid the state tax due in California (no tax paid in utah)

only took 32 days from date of manufacture to have car in Utah from England.

Dealer was A+++++ in terms of dealing with them. Never had any issues.

Ask for Debbie Linge if you call there - she is the best (and Mini sales manager)

South Bay Mini in Torrance was very above board and MSRP, would buy there again

Long Beach MINI

I bought my Cooper (non-S) from Long Beach MINI last year. Very simple, non-hassle environment. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want, and were very good about giving me tracking info right away so I could verify that my order was correct with MINIUSA. All of the pricing was retail, up-front, and there were no surprises.

For ordering a MINI, I couldn't think of a simpler, stress-free process.

It sounds like long beach is probably the right option for me. I will certainly keep looking to find the best prices though.

Thank you
