Mcs???
I was looking up the final 4 models that Mini produced and found out the MCS stands for Mini Cooper Sport.

Makes sense to me. I always preferred to think of it as "Sport". But it's an age-old argument, the final decision ends up being that it doesn't stand for anything, just "S". Bah.
I just can't understand why ANYONE would want to call it "Special"... unless it was yellow with flashing lights and a stop sign coming out. A REALLY REALLY short "Short Bus"?

And something tells me that if I told every whacko (albeit nice, friendly, interested whacko) on the street that "S" stood for "S", I would be explaining that for far longer a time than that required to say; "Supercharged" and get a surprised, appreciative nod in return.

But I would also like to put in my bid for "Spank". As in, my car will Spank yours, thankyouverymuch.
Only one problem with the "Supercharged" theory... in 2007, the supercharger will be gone, replaced by a turbocharger... and no the name isn't changing to MCT.
Which is why I prefer "Sport".
Just plain "S" doesn't make any sense to me. Why not call it an MCQ, or an MCZ, or an MCX then?

But I do like "Sport," too....that's fine with me!

So all this time I thought "S" was for "supercharged!" Am I wrong?
I always thought the 'S' on the back was meant for the drivers behind us, as in "SeeYaLaterSucka"
