Any problems with auto unlock?

I've been intrigued by the programmable "auto unlock" option (unlocking the doors automatically after the MINI is turned off); however, I know of at least one owner who attributed electrical problems to this option being activated.

Has anyone else had such problems? Alternatively, are there folks out there who have had the option enabled and lived happily ever after?

Here's a weird story. My friend has autolocks on his E46 and he was having problems unlocking the car from the inside. The auto locks would lock the doors and when he tried to get out he was only able to get out for the driver side. Each inside door release would not unlock its respective door. He took it to the shop and they change some of the programming and it still didn't work. So he had the auto locks function removed. Some time later, his battery failed and he replaced it. Ever since then he's had no problems with the door locks.

I think it's more related to the battery then anything else.

No problem here with my 03 and several updates. It works just as well as the programmed cold start function.

From day one I had auto-unlock enabled and auto-lock disabled.

Never a problem electrically, and I (and my passengers) have never had to pull twice on the door pull.

Edit to add: well I did have an electrical problem once, but it had nothing to do with auto-unlock.

my '04 has auto-lock...never a problem

about the having to pull the door handle twice....well, the car is Brittish...we just returned from a vacation in London...the toilets there require you to flush the handle twice in quick succession (once seems to prime the pump and the second then will start the flushing)...reminded me of the double door pull...my wife agrees...has anyone ever noticed this with brittish toilets??

never been to london but that double pull toilet flush sounds pretty funny

the only problem is that i have to be outide the car to lock the doors with the remote and it's a little slow but i think that's only the battery so i guess all ok pretty much - something i can live with since my car makes me smile
