I got into it with a new Boxster S

I got into it with a new Boxster S on Saturday coming down GA 400 from Helen GA. We were doing around 70 -80 and I was following him. A few times he took off and I tried to catch him in a 6th gear roll on but he was too strong. Several more times same thing except I down shifted and stayed right with him. I'm guessing he just floored it and did not downshift. That car has 3.2 liters (pretty sure) and is one of my favorite cars that I have not driven.

NICE... i have one comment about the time you kept up with him.
the boxster s arent very fast. with what u have dont to your mini you can keep up with him in an 80mph roll i would say up to about 110-115... after that he will begin to pull.
i have raced a regular boxster at an 80mph hour roll and we were head to head till about 115mph and i have alot less done to my car than u.

I don't know if it was a "roll on by him or if he downshifted and I didn't.

The new Boxster S has 280 hp up from the last years.

I was surprised. I think my Dinan intake is choking my engine somewhat with all the mods I have.

I've got a co-worker with a Boxster S also. We've "got into it" in the twisties if we see each other on our commute. He's amazed I'm keeping up with him; I'm amazed he can't pull away.

Hehe, sometime last year (pre-mini but still relevant) I was running through Mass with a ferrari and a 911. The two of them came up behind me obviously just out to play with their expensive toys. I don't think they were too happy when my 1.8T audi started tracking their every move. Fun for me though

On a track, my older Boxster S (2001) would soundly thrash my MCS/JCW. On a public road, the outcome would be different. I would think a well driven MINI ought to be able to keep up with most exotics, unless there is an extreme hp difference (>250, say) (& depending on the road).

well knowing that the dinan CAI is a close box you might be right... im not an expert but i do know that the 19% on my mini sucks air in like a beast... i can hear it sucking air from inside my car.

i would be will to bet that with an open CAI you will get some extra HP...

note* i have a custome made intake but is looks almost as the alta... i made my own box and i got a custome cone it works great totaling $68 and thats b/c i spend $45 on a K&N filter

now naparsei, i have to say you might be right but it would have to be a track with planty of str8t lines where one can take the car over 100 the extra HP on the boxster then will trash the 200 on your JCW... now on the corners the boxster cant keep up with the mini...
