Stolen from right in front of my house!

Not the MINI

I had a Rio Karma inside and a pair of those Creative portable speakers. I know the car was locked when I came in the house cause I always check the door (force of habit). Come out the next morn and hit the button. Put the laptop in the trunk. Get in the drivers seat and my knees hit the steering whell. WTF?!?! Look around the interior. Rio Karma. Gone. Charger tip (it's an I-Go charger). Gone. Speakers. Gone.

Only thing that I can think is that I hit the button while it was in my pocket and I was on the couch.

Suck.

I don't mean to jump to conclusions, but I am going to say it was some kids just walking around the neighborhood pulling door handles. There were more valuable things in the trunk of the car. It could have been way worse though. I could be short 1 new MINI instead of an MP3 player.

Ah man that sucks! Glad that your actual car wasn't stolen though... Can't you claim that type of thing under homeowner's insurance?

Doesn't the manual say, if you unlock the doors with the remote, they auto lock in 2 mins? I could of sworn I tested this...

I think that is a new feature for the '05s.

Man, don't keep stuff like that in the car, or at least drop it into the boot where it is out of sight.

About 25 cars in our neighborhood got their windows smashed, and stuff inside looted.

The culpris just went down the street hitting every car that had valuables inside.

We keep our MINI in a locked garage, and still lock the doors.

That stinks, sorry for your loss. On the plus side, now you can replace it with an iPod.

I live in a new development right off Griffin Road and 95.

If my doors lock after 2 mins then that means I am about the most unlucky person ever. Or the thief is just really lucky and saw the flash and had monster cajones.

iPods don't play ogg files. And they don't play music gaplessly. about 3/4 of my music is ogg.

My 04' re-locks if not opened after a couple of minutes. There were previous post on this option, and some had it, some didn't. May be a program thing. Sorry about your stuff. Some people just suck.

Danmcg, I live near you off of I595 and SRD 84. Last summer they broke into my WRX to steal the alarm. They knew exactly where it was and touched nothing but the alarm. They did not steal my cd's, etc. Weird! I hope my MINI is luckier.

Most policies I've seen exclude items like cd's, stereos or any items that send or receive audio or video signals when in, on or attached to a motor vehicle. I think an ipod would not be covered. Any other type of property you probably can.
