MINI in the shop - Clutch???

Yesterday I gave my MCS to my wife to take to work as I needed her BIG car(honda accord). She got as far as the corner an it stopped going. No gears what-so-ever no first, second..no reverse. So I went and had it towed to the dealer. They have yet to look at it but tell me that its either the clutch or the transmission. The tech I spoke to tells me that its the clutch.

Now I have 15,ooo miles and I cant beleive I burned the clutch out. This is my third stick. The first two I did 2oo,ooo miles on each on the original clutch. I am also suspect that they know its the clutch with out looking at it. I don't fault the dealership - there service is awesome (loaner and all).

What I am concirned about is the reliability of the clutch. I tend to think this car is not a high mile car. Ounce the warrantee is out so am I. What is your feeling on the clutch. Perhapse its time to order my 06 MCSa.

Good news then. If it's the tranny, they should cover it under warranty. Good luck.

'Fell off'?? Hmmmm. Never heard of such a thing. There are some pretty serious bolts connecting these.

Went to get it today. Yes the gear that connects the axel to the transmission came off. The seal broke and the tranny fluid all leaked out. Thus there was no grip to the axel and thus no go. The lead mini tech at my dealer said that he had only ever seen that ounce before and that was a car that was in an accident. No accident for me your guess is as good as his.
