Detroit Tuned :: New UNIchip applications!
Detroit Tuned :: New UNIchip applications!
I spent the whole day today at the chassis dyno perfecting new UNIchip applications, whew I'm tired! We now have maps for the Cooper (both 5-speed and CVT) with stock and aftermarket cat-backs, as well as an MCS application for 19% pulley, ALTA CAI, and Milltek cat-back.
The Cooper didn't have much room for change, as it already is tuned quite well from the factory. I was able to squeeze out about 7 horsepower, with gains all the way across the RPM band. Since the Cooper runs a bit rich in the higher RPM range, with the UNIchip you can expect a slight fuel economy improvement as well as more power! The UNIchip is applicable for both the 5-speed and CVT equipped Cooper's.
The 19%/cai/cat-back application was definitely trickier; as the supercharger creates a LOT of heat on the chassis dyno. So much so, that I added an extra layer of protection and decided to tune it so it runs a bit richer than the 15%, just to be safe. That said, I was still able to get very solid gains, about 14 HP peak, over the stock ECU. This big power gain is because even with the 19%, the stock injectors are still dumping in too much fuel at higher RPMs. This is another application where aggressive driving will yield way more power and better fuel economy than the stock ECU.
Give us a call to fufill your MINI tuning needs! Now more than ever we have the ability to offer custom tuned applications for your MINI.
Cheers!
