This weekend in Montreal, it was the 2005 MINI Canada Test Drive event.

There was a lot of MINI to try (but none of them had them LSD). It was a very nice event and I think everyone liked it... Unfortunately, it started to rain at the time I went, so it was not possible to put the roof down on convertibles MINI.

It was a fun day, we got to drive every model we wanted, and we could drive them a bit hard too!

Is this a tour? Coming to the states? Do you have a website or something with info on it?

I love these kind of events and would love to do a MINI one. Did they have any JCW cars availible?

It was a decent event at the Hippodrome (for those who know Montreal). It was raining pretty hard when I drove and was nice to sample all the cars. I'd never driven a Cooper or a Auto MCS. When we asked if any of the cars had LSD, we got a blank stare back like we were on drugs My car has LSD but it's always nice to thrash someone elses. A couple of us got some warnings for driving too fast and knocking some cones but it was regardless.

BMW/MINI have a permenant setup in the parking lot of the Hippodrome Horse Race Track. They do events throughout the summer. I had to photograph one event last year after the F1 race where Ralph Shumacher attended for a Q&A session.

Can someone clarify if this is the PieIX metro stop next to the Olympic Stadium?

 

No this is at the Hippodrome which is off Décarie (Highway 15) and Jean Talon Exit. Behind the big shopping area there is the Horse Race Track.

Thanks djafactor, I had my 'dromes' mixed...I was confusing the velodrome with the hippodrome...

 

I received a letter from MINI Canada about this event, only a week before it.

I then register on MINI Canada website. It was that easy, and a really fun day!

I quickly met with djafactor, and another MINI owner from MINI2 forum but lost sight of them after my driving session.

I heard that the next day, there was a JCW MCS to drive, but it was too late!

Anyways, great day, lots of fun, and many pics taken!
