Mini Fridge

So, anyone have a Mini Fridge for thier MINI? If so, who makes it? Got a pic? Have you hooked it up to the rear power outlet, and tried it out, to see how cold it keeps items in the back? Thanks.

We have one that we purchased at Costco several years ago. It's medium sized - holds something like 18 cans.

They do keep things cool, but not as cold as the makers claim. You really do need to pre-chill the cooler and putting a blue-ice pack in the cooler too really helps.

Keep in mind that they only run when the car is running or the ignition is on. We also bought the transformer so that we can run it in the motel on trips. It does have fan noise which can be disturbing at night if you are a light sleeper.

If you get a large cooler they can be pretty heavy when loaded, so keep that in mind.

If you look around the Target stores in your area, they might still have some of these (not the MINI brand of course) on the clearance shelves. I got a 17 liter one for $20 and love it. Of course I have only used it once, but it kept my beverages very cold on a car show day.

We have the genuine MINI "Cool Bag". It does keep drinks, sandwiches and potato salad cool enough. It's not "refrigerator" cold, but works fine for an afternoon of motoring and a picnic. And it has a MINI logo on it too!

Got a chilling/heating unit that's big enough to hold 9 soda cans for $17 from Woot.com. Uses the Peltier Effect so it only chills to about 30 degrees below the temp in the car.
