Digital Speed on NAV equipped cars?

Hi,

I know on previous model years with NAV you couldnt get the digital speed readout because the NAV had the trip computer built into the NAV and not on the Tach. However after getting my 05 Cooper a month ago it seems the new cars with NAV have the trip computer also on the Tach as well as the NAV. I thought, great...digital speed readout! I used the button on the wiper stalk to scroll through the functions..avg fuel, range, temp...BUT STILL NO DIGITAL SPEED READOUT?? I was disappointed. So I was wondering if you guys think its possible that this feature is something the dealer can simply program in or unlock? I mean, they finally give us the regular trip computer in addition to the NAV, it doesnt make sense for it to exclude the speed readout. Any ideas?

Yea I was upset to see that as well, being tall I have trouble reading the speedo once it gets above 70mph because the steering wheel blocks it. Anyone have any ideas???

Yep - let's petition MINI for a computer software update to correct the mistake. Having average speed, average MPG and instant MPG is nice, but so short of having "current speed". Sure, we can program the speed alarm (mine's set to 75... that's the real danger zone above that (reckless in VA)), but come on, MINI... current speed would be awesome.

What do you guys leave your computer set to most of the time? I leave mine to "miles remaining" (on the current tank).

I was driving a '05 MC CVT loaner with NAV and since you have the speedo mounted on top of the steering wheel housing, you loose the digital speed readout (Regardless of having OBC or not). Same thing happens if you get the Chrono Pack.

The NAV is very cool, but I miss the big center speedo. I also found it more difficult to read the speedo since the wheel hides some parts of it.

I leave mine on outside temp.

I mostly leave it on miles to go as well, although, since I have the map displayed the majority of the time, i only consult it as needed.

I have no trouble with the speedo (actually prefer it to the center location) so I do not miss having a digital readout

What does this acomplish since the NAV always displays the outside temp? On a side note the BMW NAv systems display the time of day. I wish the mini one did that.

I guess the MINI NAV system just doesn't want to give you the time of day. Hahahaha hohohoho heeheeheehee... OK I'll shut up now.

I dunno, I am usually looking in the speedo area instead of the NAV unless i am following directions on it so I leave it there so I can see it. I never let my fuel run so low that I would need to leave it on range and the other info is useless to me. Now if I had DIGITAL SPEED (ahem MINIUSA) I would leave it on that.
